Jason Kelce opened They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce by chugging a beer onstage. The ESPN show was taped in Philadelphia on Jan. 3, 2025, and premiered at 1 a.m. ET on Jan. 4. The debut was the first of a scheduled five-episode run—not the launch of a confirmed ongoing series.
Did Jason Kelce chug a beer on his show?
Yes. According to the Philadelphia Eagles’ report on the debut, Kelce walked onto the stage from behind the audience and opened the premiere by chugging a beer served by Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Eagles wide receiver Harold Carmichael. The Associated Press also described a fastest-beer-chugging winner and a later moment when Kelce shared a beer with Carmichael.
The reports describe an on-air moment, not a beer brand or product recommendation.
When did the show premiere?
The first episode was taped Friday, Jan. 3, at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer, then broadcast at 1 a.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. Those are different dates: Jan. 3 was the taping, and Jan. 4 was the premiere.

The title nods to They Call It Pro Football, NFL Films’ first full-length film, released in 1967. In the Eagles’ report, Kelce said he wanted NFL Films involved to celebrate more than current players and games: he wanted the show to include the league’s history, announcers, and fans as well. He also said, “I used to love Conan as a kid. Now I’m up here doing my own show.”
The Eagles reported that development began in February and involved Kelce’s Wooderboy Productions, Skydance Sports, ESPN, and NFL Films. That account describes the show’s production, not whether it continued after its planned run.
