King Charles’s Father’s Day greeting appeared on the royal family’s account on June 15, 2025. More than a month earlier, on May 2, Prince Harry told the BBC, “I would love reconciliation with my family.” The dates provide context for the two public moments, but there is no evidence that the King’s post was a reply to Harry.
What King Charles’s Father’s Day post showed
The royal family account wished people a happy Father’s Day on June 15, 2025: “To all Dads everywhere, we wish you a happy Father’s Day today.” The post included throwback photographs of Charles with his father, Prince Philip, and Queen Camilla with her father, Major Bruce Shand. It also shared archival video of Charles as a baby with Philip. Us Weekly reported that the post did not include a photograph of Charles with either of his sons.
The Prince and Princess of Wales had posted the previous day about Trooping the Colour, where Prince William appeared with Charles. The reported choice of images does not establish why the Father’s Day post featured those particular family memories, or whether the absence of a picture with either son was deliberate.
What Prince Harry said about reconciliation
In a BBC interview broadcast on May 2, 2025, Harry said: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.” He also said, “He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” referring to his father, and said he did not know how much longer Charles had. These are Harry’s statements about the relationship; they do not independently establish Charles’s reasons for communicating with him or the state of their private contact. CBS News and the Associated Press reported on the interview.

Why Harry connected the dispute to security
The interview came after the Court of Appeal of England and Wales dismissed Harry’s challenge to the process used to determine his UK security arrangements. The Associated Press reported that the three judges unanimously ruled the committee’s decision was not unreasonable. The case concerned the decision-making process and arrangements for Harry’s security when he visits the UK.
After Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States in 2020, his UK security was changed to case-by-case decisions for visits. Harry described the issue as both a safety concern for his family and a source of friction with his father. The court ruling addressed the security decision and process; it was not a finding about the private relationship between father and son.
Buckingham Palace’s response to the judgment, as reported by the Associated Press, said: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.” That statement addressed the legal issues, not Harry’s appeal for reconciliation.

The Father’s Day greeting and Harry’s appeal were separate public events, dated June 15 and May 2, respectively. The greeting was general and featured archival family images; it did not mention Harry. The available reporting does not establish a new private exchange or show that Charles intended the post as a response to his son.
