U.S. Labor Day weekend 2026 fell on September 5–7, so it has passed. If you’re revisiting the September arrivals for a movie night, five varied picks from Amazon’s U.S. September 1 lineup are The Thing, Collateral, Chef, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Great Escape. They are an editorial mix by genre and mood—not a ranking based on ratings or viewing figures. Amazon’s September lineup confirms their listed arrival, but not that they remain included with Prime today.
Five films for five different movie-night moods
Choose by the kind of evening you want. The five films below appeared in Amazon’s U.S. list of September 1, 2026 additions; that past arrival date is not proof of current availability.

The Thing — science-fiction horror and suspense
Pick this for a tense, darker watch. It’s the shortlist’s science-fiction horror option for viewers who want suspense rather than an easygoing evening.
Collateral — a high-tension crime thriller
For a focused crime story, Collateral is the thriller choice. Its place on this list is about mood, not a claim that it outranks the other films.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels — a comedic change of pace
This is the farce option for viewers who want a comedy rather than a thriller or dramatic adventure.

The Great Escape — a classic large-scale adventure
For an older adventure film, The Great Escape rounds out the selection. It suits a night when you’re in the mood for a classic rather than a newer arrival.
Check whether a film is included with Prime
The lineup article records titles Amazon said were arriving in the U.S. on September 1; it does not establish their offer on October 4 or availability in other countries. Search for each film in the Prime Video app and check its current offer before choosing it.

- Amazon.com Gift Cards do not expire and carry no fees.

- Redeemable towards millions of items store-wide at Amazon.com or certain affiliated websites.
- Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.

- Open Prime Video and search for the title.
- Check the offer label on the title’s page. Confirm that it is included with Prime rather than presented as a rental, purchase, add-on subscription, or offer from another streaming service.
- If it is not included with Prime, choose another title or use the separate offer only if that suits you.
Amazon notes that Fire TV viewers can open Prime Video from the home screen, search, or the Prime Video app. Because search can surface offers beyond included Prime titles, the label matters. See Amazon’s Fire TV Prime Video help page.
Want a newer romance instead?
Amazon’s September list also included three later-arriving Prime Original films that could suit a different mood: Drawn Together (September 9), You+Me – Against the World (September 18), and The Love Hypothesis (September 23). Amazon frames them respectively as a romantic thriller, a young-adult romance and a rom-com. These dates are U.S. September 2026 arrival listings, not confirmation of current inclusion with Prime; check the offer label in the app.
