Spoilers for House of the Dragon and Fire & Blood. Vhagar has not been shown dying in House of the Dragon through the season-three finale. She is missing, and the finale leaves her fate unresolved. In George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, she dies in the Battle Above the Gods Eye, alongside Caraxes, during the confrontation between Daemon Targaryen and Aemond Targaryen.
Does Vhagar die in the show?
Not on screen through the season-three finale. Vhagar is missing at the end of the season, but the finale does not establish where she is or confirm that she is dead. Her fate therefore remains unresolved in the television story. Season-three finale recap
How Vhagar dies in Fire & Blood
In the book’s account of the Battle Above the Gods Eye, Caraxes locks with Vhagar and closes its jaws around her neck. As the dragons fall, Daemon leaves Caraxes and leaps onto Vhagar, driving his sword, Dark Sister, through Aemond’s blinded eye. The dragons crash into the lake; Vhagar’s body is eventually recovered. Will the show use the same ending?
The book gives Vhagar’s fate, but it does not confirm how the television series will stage the battle. Fire & Blood is presented through conflicting historical accounts, and the show has already changed events from its source.
