Asked about a possible sequel in ELLE’s March 5, 2026 interview, Falco said, “I think it’s probably not happening.” She explained: “I’ll hear about it, then it goes away, and it’s gone away for a while now.” Her words describe her understanding of the project; they do not establish that Amazon MGM Studios or Lionsgate formally canceled it.
Why was the story set ten years after the finale?
The ten-year interval was part of the reported sequel premise, not an explanation for why the show would be revived. The 2024 development-stage synopsis imagined Jackie Peyton alive and back on her feet, but without her nursing license. She would face new dilemmas while trying to do good in a world where doing wrong could be easier and more fun. That was a proposed story concept, not confirmation that episodes were made or that the premise remains current.

What happened to Jackie in the original finale?
The finale left Jackie’s fate uncertain. In a Television Academy Foundation interview, Falco said she wanted Jackie to die because she thought the consequences of addiction needed to be clear. She recalled that the network pushed back because viewers cared about the character, and that they reached a compromise: “We ended up with a compromise, where people aren’t sure that she died.”
The sequel concept would have treated Jackie as having survived, but that does not change the original ending’s ambiguity. The proposed continuation would have resolved that uncertainty for its own story; the reported premise alone does not mean the continuation was produced.
