What is Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 about?
The Hindi comedy returns to the fictional District Court Patparganj, where the staff navigate unusual cases, workplace politics and the everyday machinery of justice. Netflix’s season 2 announcement says Tyagi wants to prove himself in his new position as a judge. That change gives the familiar court a different centre of gravity: a lawyer who once thrived on courtroom performance now has to make consequential decisions.
The season has eight episodes, according to reviews by The Indian Express, India Today and Moneycontrol. The cases and comic mishaps keep the workplace-comedy engine running, while the shift from lawyer to judge makes restraint, fairness and authority more than just punchlines.
Why Ravi Kishan is the show’s heart and funny bone
Calling Kishan the show’s heart is a critical judgment, not a measurable fact, but it is supported by the season’s reviews. India Today’s Shweta Keshri calls him the heart of the show and points to the authority and eccentricity he brings to Tyagi. The Indian Express’s Shubhra Gupta also finds a thoughtful dimension in his portrayal of a judge wrestling with the role.

The performance works because the character’s comic bravado is still there, but it now has something to push against. Tyagi has to trade some of the lawyer’s self-assurance for the restraint expected of a judge. The funny bone is in the familiar eccentricity; the heart is in the glimpses of doubt and moral weight that complicate it. Kishan anchors that transition without making the series a one-person show: the court chamber’s staff and rivalries continue to supply much of its warmth and comedy.
Does the comedy still have something to say?
The show’s legal world is deliberately comic, built around bizarre cases and the people who keep a busy lower court moving. Its observations are less about delivering a formal argument on law than about the way authority, bureaucracy and human judgement collide in everyday work. That lets the series move between a courtroom absurdity and the consequences behind a decision without abandoning its light tone.

NDTV’s Radhika Sharma describes the satire as gaining gravity while remaining rooted in recognisable court-life absurdity. That balance is the season’s main appeal: it can be silly about the institution and still take seriously the people affected by choices made inside it. The social observation tends to emerge through the stories and character conflicts rather than through a consistently sharp satirical edge.
How consistent is Season 2?
The critical response is positive but qualified. The Indian Express calls the season funnier and crisper overall than its predecessor, while noting that an occasional episode does not land. India Today praises Kishan and the blend of humour with social insight, but sees stretches that could be tighter. Moneycontrol likewise finds it grounded and quietly sharp, with some drift.

The individual ratings reflect that qualified approval: Gupta gave it 3/5, Keshri 3.5/5 and Sharma 3/5 in reviews published April 3, 2026. Those are separate critics’ scores, not an audience rating or a combined average. The broad point of agreement is that the performances and distinctive court setting remain engaging; pacing and episode-to-episode consistency are less assured.
Is Maamla Legal Hai worth watching?
It is a reasonable pick if you want an approachable ensemble comedy with workplace absurdity, odd cases and light reflection on justice. Go in expecting a comic drama that has uneven patches, not a nonstop barrage of sharp legal satire. Season 2 is especially appealing if you want to see Tyagi’s comic confidence tested by the responsibilities of judging.

Where to watch Maamla Legal Hai
Netflix’s India catalogue lists two seasons of the series. It describes the show as a comedy set at District Court Patparganj and lists Ravi Kishan, Nidhi Bisht and Naila Grewal among the starring cast; Sameer Saxena is named as creator. Netflix announced Season 2 for April 3, 2026, with Kusha Kapila and Dinesh Lal Yadav joining the returning cast.

Has Maamla Legal Hai Season 3 been confirmed?
The Netflix listing and the season 2 announcement establish two seasons and the second season’s April 3, 2026 release. They do not establish a Season 3 renewal or release date, so there is no confirmed third-season timing to report here.
