In a January 3 announcement, his management said he had broken the little finger on his left hand and was expected to be unable to play guitar for about six weeks. Later official listings show performances in 2026 and 2027, but do not identify them as rescheduled dates for the postponed 2025 run.
Why did Carlos Santana postpone the residency?
Santana’s official site announced the postponement on January 3, 2025. The run was due to begin January 22 at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The announcement said Santana had fallen while out walking at his vacation home in Kauai.
Michael Vrionis, president of Universal Tone Management, said Santana broke the little finger on his left hand and had pins inserted. Vrionis estimated that Santana would be unable to play guitar for approximately six weeks, and said doctors expected a full recovery. That was management’s estimate at the time, not confirmation of how long recovery actually took. Vrionis also said Santana regretted postponing the performances and that his health was the priority. Read the January 3, 2025 announcement from Santana’s official site.
What was postponed, and what was known about new dates?
The San Francisco Chronicle described the engagement as an eight-show run and reported on January 3, 2025, that it had been delayed indefinitely. At that point, no replacement dates were known. The San Francisco Chronicle’s January 3 report reflects what was known when the postponement was announced.
