Antonia and Johanna Bennett say they need a fuller account of their father’s assets and trust affairs. Their brother, D’Andrea “Danny” Bennett, was described by the Associated Press as Tony Bennett’s manager and as running or heading the family trust. The sisters’ complaints concern both access to financial information and Danny’s conduct in that role.
The dispute is about claims made in legal filings and the family’s competing positions—not a finding that anyone misused estate assets. The available reporting does not establish a court ruling on the allegations.
What happened in the legal dispute?
June 2024: request for an accounting and inventory
In June 2024, Antonia and Johanna filed a New York proceeding seeking an accounting and inventory of trust assets. They questioned what property and music assets were included in a catalogue and image-rights transaction involving Iconoclast, and said they had not received adequate information about the transaction. Those are the petitioners’ claims as reported by the AP, not judicial findings. The AP’s June 2024 report quoted the petition as saying: “Although Danny and his counsel have provided piecemeal information and produced some documents to petitioners’ counsel, the information provided raises more questions than answers and fails to provide anything close to an accounting of Tony’s assets and financial affairs.”

March 2025: allegations about trust leadership
In March 2025, the sisters filed a further lawsuit alleging that Danny breached fiduciary duties. They sought his removal as head of the family trust and alleged self-interested transactions and financial benefits to him and his company. The available coverage reports those allegations; it does not establish that a court found them true. The AP’s March 2025 report described the new case and the response from Danny’s spokesperson.
How has Danny Bennett responded?
A spokesperson for Danny Bennett rejected the 2025 allegations. The AP quoted the spokesperson as saying: “This lawsuit is yet another baseless attempt to distort the public and the court’s understanding of Tony Bennett’s clearly stated wishes.” The spokesperson also said Danny “has followed his father’s plans with integrity and care.” These are the spokesperson’s statements, not a court’s assessment of the dispute.

What is known about Tony Bennett and the estate?
Tony Bennett died in 2023 at age 96. The AP reported that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016; that diagnosis alone does not establish incapacity or resolve the sisters’ claims about the trust. Bennett released more than 70 albums and received 19 competitive Grammy Awards, according to AP reporting. The 2024 AP coverage addressed the family’s initial request for information.

Has a court ruled, or has the case ended?
The available reporting establishes the 2024 proceeding and the 2025 lawsuit, but does not establish the current docket status, a judicial ruling, a settlement, or a dismissal.
