Diana, Princess of Wales, was born at nearby Park House in 1961, and recent Associated Press reporting places Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at a new residence somewhere on the estate. The specific property has not been identified in that report.
What is Sandringham Estate?
Sandringham is a country estate in Norfolk that includes the historic Sandringham House, gardens and parkland, as well as working-estate activity. The estate says there was a residence on the site of the present house as early as 1296; the name appears in the Domesday Book as “Sant Dersingham.” Its royal history began much later: Edward, Prince of Wales, bought Sandringham in 1862. Historic England’s account records that a 1771 house stood there before it was demolished and replaced by a Jacobean-style house erected in 1870. A conservatory from the earlier house was retained and converted into a billiard room.
Sandringham became a much-loved royal retreat. The estate quotes King George V describing it as: “Dear old Sandringham, the place I love better than anywhere else in the world”. The estate’s history traces its development and describes it as both a private country retreat and a working estate.
Was Princess Diana born at Sandringham?
Diana was born at Park House, near Sandringham, Norfolk, on 1 July 1961, according to The Royal Family’s biography. Park House is not Sandringham House: it is a separate property nearby. Diana lived at Park House with her siblings and father until 1975, when the family moved to Althorp after her father inherited the earldom.

Where is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s new home?
The latest location established by the available reporting is the Sandringham Estate. The Associated Press reported that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was back at his new residence there after his release from police custody, but its report does not name the property. The AP report therefore supports the estate-level location, not a specific address.
That distinction matters because suggestions about individual properties are not confirmation. On 31 October 2025, ABC News reported that Buckingham Palace had not specified where Andrew would live and discussed several possibilities as speculation at that time. Those suggestions do not establish his current residence. ABC’s report is a record of the uncertainty then, not proof that he lives at any one of the named properties.

A separate National Audit Office summary includes a May 2026 snapshot listing Andrew as an occupant of Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate. That dated administrative snapshot does not establish where he lived after the later move reported by AP. The NAO summary and the AP account describe different points in time and contexts.

Yes. Sandringham Estate’s visitor information describes access to the house and a 60-acre garden. The estate says its gardens first opened to visitors in 1908, and Sandringham House opened to the public in 1977. Opening dates, access and admission details can change, so check the official Sandringham Estate visitor information before planning a visit.
