The 19-minute film adapts Osamu Tezuka’s manga and follows a Tokyo taxi driver who helps a young woman caught in a fight over her father’s legacy.
What is Midnight about?
Midnight is a short film directed by Takashi Miike and adapted from a manga by Osamu Tezuka. iMore describes its premise as a heroic taxi driver navigating Tokyo and helping a young woman caught up in a struggle over her father’s legacy. The cast named in that coverage includes Kento Kaku, Konatsu Kato, and Yukiyoshi Ozawa.
Filmmaker Magazine describes the short as 19 minutes long; iMore calls it just under 20 minutes. Both are approximate runtime descriptions.
Which iPhone was used to film it?
Published reports identify the camera as the iPhone 15 Pro—not the iPhone 15 Pro Max. iMore reported on March 11, 2024, that the film was shot entirely on the iPhone 15 Pro. Filmmaker Magazine reported on March 6, 2024, that Apple had released the short. These are published accounts of the production, not independent verification of its complete camera package.

What iPhone features appear in the production coverage?
Filmmaker Magazine’s account of the behind-the-scenes video discusses Action Mode and Cinematic Mode, as well as LiDAR scanning for CG modeling. iMore also mentions the iPhone 15 Pro’s 5x telephoto camera and refers to Action and Cinematic modes. These reports describe capabilities highlighted around the production; they do not establish that a particular mode or lens was used for every shot.
