When did Amy Carlson leave Blue Bloods?
Carlson’s departure came after Season 7. CBS dates that season’s finale, “The Thin Blue Line,” to May 5, 2017, in its official episode guide. The show addressed Linda’s absence in the Season 8 premiere, which TV Insider reported on September 30, 2017.

In her first full-length interview after the reveal, as reported by TVLine on November 7, 2017, Carlson said she had not known the writers would kill Linda that way and was surprised by the choice.
