The dates put the broadcast roughly six months before his death. The episode’s listing confirms its title and air date; the identification of the cameo as Redford’s final on-screen appearance comes from posthumous reporting.
What happens in Redford’s cameo?
Entertainment coverage describes Redford and fellow executive producer George R. R. Martin playing chess in a jail cell. The scene includes a joke about the world waiting for Martin to make a move. AMC’s episode listing does not describe the scene, so that detail comes from the entertainment reporting rather than the network’s synopsis.

Why isn’t Avengers: Endgame his final appearance?
Redford played Alexander Pierce in Avengers: Endgame, released on April 26, 2019, according to Disney. That film is an earlier screen appearance: the later Dark Winds cameo aired in 2025. The distinction is between a film role and his final appearance audiences saw on screen; the latter was the television cameo identified by reporting.
