Paul Giamatti publicly called actress Clara Wong his girlfriend during his January 2024 Critics Choice Awards acceptance speech. They also appeared together at several awards events that year and both worked on Billions. The available reporting confirms what Giamatti said in 2024, but does not establish when they began dating or whether they are still together in 2026.
Who is Paul Giamatti’s girlfriend?
Clara Wong is the woman Giamatti publicly referred to as his girlfriend at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. While accepting the Best Actor award, he said, “I want to say, I love my beautiful girlfriend Clara Wong,” then added, “Why you bother with me, I don’t know why.” ELLE reported the remarks and their context.

What is publicly known about their relationship?
The clearest evidence is Giamatti’s own description of Wong as his girlfriend, along with their appearances together at public events. ELLE reported that they attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards in January 2024 and appeared together at the BAFTA Film Awards and the Oscars later that year.
Those public moments document their relationship in 2024; they do not reveal when it started. Us Weekly likewise reported in March 2024 that the date they began dating was unclear. The cited coverage does not establish their relationship status as of October 2026, so it is not possible to confirm whether Wong is Giamatti’s girlfriend now.

How are Clara Wong and Paul Giamatti connected through Billions?
Wong played Troy in the Showtime drama Billions, in which Giamatti starred as Chuck Rhoades Jr. ELLE describes Troy as a recurring character who works as a dominatrix at a private New York BDSM club and sometimes sees Rhoades as a client. Their professional connection on the series predates the public 2024 relationship confirmation, but the available reporting does not say that they met on set or that they began dating while working on the show.
