The two roles are different: The Golden Bachelor features a man seeking a partner, while The Golden Bachelorette features a woman as the lead. In March 2024, Kelsey said she supported her father considering the latter show and was trying to persuade him. “So I fully support my dad in that. I’m trying to talk him into it,” she told TV Insider in an interview published March 27. TV Insider’s interview with Kelsey
ABC later announced Mark as a contestant on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette, led by Joan Vassos. Entertainment Tonight reported his casting on August 13, 2024. What ABC said about Mark
ABC’s biography for the 2024 season described Mark as an Army veteran from Leesville, Louisiana, and listed his age as 57. That is a cast-biography detail from 2024, not a current-age figure. ABC also wrote, “Mark is ready for love after loss,” and said he had found The Golden Bachelor inspiring and hoped to meet a woman with whom he could plant roots.
Kelsey’s comments to TV Insider reflected her support for her widowed father dating again. She described him as “such an amazing man” and said he would go through the experience well. TV Insider’s interview with Kelsey
