Bobby Flay was among the Food Network colleagues who paid tribute to Burrell, with whom he had worked on the network, including on Worst Cooks in America. Good Morning America also reported tributes from other colleagues and television personalities.
Gigi Hadid shared a remembrance as well. Hadid had appeared with Burrell on Beat Bobby Flay, giving the two a connection through Food Network television. These remembrances came from people whose work had intersected with Burrell’s on screen and in the network’s food programming.

Burrell studied at the Culinary Institute of America, worked in restaurants and taught at the institute before building a television career. The Associated Press reports that she began appearing on Food Network with Iron Chef America.

Worst Cooks in America and other shows
She became widely known as the host of Worst Cooks in America, where she taught people looking to improve their cooking. In a 2020 interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, Burrell said, “If people want to learn, I absolutely love to teach them.” She described the work as “just them breaking bad habits and getting out of their own way.” Her last television appearance on Worst Cooks was in 2024, according to the Associated Press.

Teaching was a central part of Burrell’s career, both at the Culinary Institute of America and on television. Food Network’s statement, quoted by the Associated Press, called her “a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring.”
Food Network’s tribute programming
Food Network announced a special programming block for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to honor Burrell and celebrate her impact on the network and beyond. Warner Bros. Discovery’s pressroom announcement described the programming as a way for fans to remember her work. The announcement establishes what was scheduled for that date; it does not confirm that the programs are available to stream now.
