Doechii joined Perry for the live debut of “I’m His, He’s Mine.” The song is associated with Perry’s then-upcoming album 143, but the available event coverage establishes the live debut, not additional details about the album’s release or availability.
How the performance was staged
Pitchfork reports that Perry performed “Dark Horse” and “E.T.” while suspended above the stage. During “Firework,” she wore inflatable metallic butterfly wings. These details come from the event-day recap rather than MTV’s short performance listing.

The Video Vanguard honor was separate from another VMAs result
MTV’s winners page separately lists Perry’s “Roar” as the winner of the 2024 Most Iconic Performance category. That result was distinct from the Video Vanguard Award she accepted during the ceremony.

In its August 15, 2024 announcement, Paramount/MTV described Perry as a Video Vanguard honoree and cited promotional career figures: 115 billion cumulative streams, worldwide sales of over 70 million adjusted albums, 143 million tracks, over 27 billion video views, and seven Diamond-certified titles. These are the figures as the announcement presented them before the show, not independently audited current totals. The release quoted Bruce Gillmer, Paramount’s President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+, calling Perry “a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon.”
