Yes. Prime Video renewed Cross for Season 3 on March 18, 2026, with an announced order of eight episodes. The Season 2 finale leaves Alex Cross outside the police force, setting up a major change for the next season. TVLine reported the renewal and episode order.
What is confirmed about Cross Season 3?
Season 3 is confirmed, and its announced order is eight episodes—the same episode count as the first two seasons, according to TVLine’s renewal report. A premiere date has not been established by the sources available as of October 4, 2026, so there is no confirmed release window to report.
Creator and showrunner Ben Watkins said Alex’s decision to turn in his badge developed as the story took shape. He described the choice as a “quandary” for Season 3, which will need a compelling way to bring Cross back. That explains the narrative challenge, but it does not confirm the season’s plot or how Cross will return. Watkins discussed the finale with TheWrap.
What happened at the end of Cross Season 2?
Spoilers for the Season 2 finale.
Alex Cross leaves the force
Alex runs with a flash drive containing evidence of Lance Durand’s trafficking scheme after learning the FBI intends to cover it up. He ultimately turns in his badge and leaves the force. The ending puts the distinction between law and justice at the center of his next chapter. Watkins framed the dilemma this way: “There’s a difference between justice and the law, and if the law is not upholding justice, and you are the law, then what does that make you?”

Luz survives
The episode appears to leave vigilante Luz dead after she jumps from the Canadian Bridge, but a final scene at a public funeral in Mexico suggests she is alive. Watkins confirmed that Luz survived. He also said he had initially planned for her to die, just as he had initially expected Cross to remain on the force; both outcomes changed as the story developed.
How does Season 2 set up the next season?
Season 2’s official setup centers on billionaire Lance Durand, who seeks FBI protection after a death threat connected to a murder. Alex and FBI agent Kayla Craig lead the investigation, while John Sampson—Cross’s partner and longtime friend—develops an unexpected connection. The finale’s cover-up and badge decision shift the focus from that case to the consequences of Alex’s choice, without establishing the full direction of Season 3. Skydance’s series page provides official series context.

Is Cross based on an Alex Cross novel?
Cross follows Alex Cross, the character created by James Patterson, but the available sources do not establish that Season 2 adapts a particular novel. The television series and the books should therefore be treated as related versions of the character, not assumed to tell the same specific story.
