What Lori Vallow Daybell said in the Dateline interview
NBC announced Vallow Daybell’s first television interview in March 2025. The Dateline special, Lori Vallow Daybell: The Jailhouse Interview, was conducted by Keith Morrison and addressed her belief that she and Chad Daybell would be exonerated. NBC’s announcement identifies the program and its interview framing.
In a transcript of the interview, Vallow Daybell links that belief to a religious experience. She says Jesus showed her a future in which she and Chad were not in jail or prison. This is her account of what she believes she saw; it is not independently verifiable legal evidence. The available transcript is third-party rather than an official NBC transcript, so the claim is best understood as a paraphrase of her stated reasoning rather than treated as a verified verbatim quotation. Idaho convictions and appeal
In Idaho, Vallow Daybell was convicted in the deaths of her children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and of conspiring in the murder of Tammy Daybell. She received life sentences. She appealed her Idaho judgment of conviction to the Idaho Supreme Court; the appeal had not been decided in the latest available record. September 2026 reporting said oral argument was scheduled for November 2, 2026. Because that date was still in the future on October 4, 2026, the argument should be described as scheduled, not completed; no outcome should be inferred. KIFI’s report on the scheduled hearing gives the date.
Arizona convictions and sentences
Arizona juries later convicted Vallow Daybell of conspiring to kill Charles Vallow and Brandon Boudreaux. On July 25, 2025, she received two additional life sentences. The Associated Press reported that the sentencing concluded those Arizona trials and that she would return to Idaho. At the sentencing, Judge Justin Beresky told her, “You should never be released from prison.” That was a statement by the Arizona sentencing judge, not a ruling on her Idaho appeal. Why her prediction is different from her legal status
“Exonerated” is Vallow Daybell’s prediction, grounded in the spiritual experience she described in the interview. The established legal record is that she has convictions and life sentences in Idaho and Arizona, while her Idaho appeal was pending in the latest available reporting. An appeal is a court process, not proof that a conviction has been set aside; its result cannot be known from the interview or from the fact that argument is scheduled.
