You can keep a YouTube stream running without leaving your home computer on by running OBS on a rented Windows cloud PC or VPS. You manage the remote machine, encoder, media and recovery yourself, and pay the provider in rupees where it offers INR billing. For prerecorded videos or playlists, hosted cloud playout is a simpler alternative—but it is not a general-purpose cloud PC.
Choose between a cloud PC and hosted playout

A cloud VM is not an uptime guarantee. The machine, encoder, storage, network path, YouTube ingest and your recovery process can all interrupt a broadcast. No specific VM offer cited here has been independently tested for continuous OBS encoding.
Check YouTube eligibility and archive needs first
- YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 years old. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming and complete any channel requirements well before the planned start. See YouTube Help’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If a replay matters, plan around that documented condition and verify current behavior before relying on an archive for a longer continuous stream. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Confirm you have the rights needed for every video, image and audio track, and follow YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream policies. A 24/7 schedule does not grant permission to rebroadcast content.
Compare the full rupee cost—not just the advertised VM price
Cloud PC, Windows VPS and general-purpose cloud VM offers are different products, and their listed prices are not directly comparable. Check whether Windows licensing and GST are included, whether billing is monthly or usage-based, and what storage, network, backups and support cost at your intended runtime. Confirm that the product is available in your region before treating a displayed INR price as purchasable.

For any provider, estimate the total at the runtime you actually need: VM or desktop charges, Windows license, GST, storage, outbound traffic or bandwidth limits, backup charges and support. Do not treat a provider’s availability claim or port speed as proof that it can sustain your selected encode 24/7.

Set up a 24/7 stream with a cloud PC and OBS
- Enable YouTube live streaming early. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and complete the channel’s live-stream setup. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. Check that the account meets YouTube’s age requirement.
- Provision a suitable Windows VM. Choose a product available in your region and confirm its Windows license, CPU, RAM, storage, network terms and billing. Size it for the encoding workload and test the exact VM before depending on it.
- Install OBS and configure a scene. In OBS, run the Auto-Configuration Wizard, then create a scene and add the sources your programme needs—such as a media file, image, text, camera, gameplay or desktop capture. Check that the audio meters respond and that the intended audio is audible. OBS’s guide describes these setup options: OBS Studio overview.
- Create or manage the YouTube stream. In Live Control Room, create or select the broadcast and copy its stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube or a custom server as appropriate, and enter the URL and key. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, share it publicly or leave it visible in recordings.
- Set and test encoder output. YouTube’s published RTMP(S) guidance recommends H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval (do not exceed four seconds). Choose resolution and bitrate based on a tested upload bitrate and what the VM can sustain. Use representative motion and sound in a sustained trial; watch YouTube’s stream-health feedback rather than assuming the VM’s advertised network speed is sufficient. See YouTube’s encoder settings.
- Start the encoder and complete the YouTube workflow. Start streaming in OBS, wait for the preview and stream-health status in Live Control Room, then use YouTube’s Go live workflow when prompted. Confirm the public watch page is showing the expected picture and sound.
- Plan monitoring and recovery. Arrange regular checks and a way to restart OBS or the VM if the encoder or machine stops. YouTube’s stream-health feedback can help identify ingest problems, but it does not restart your cloud machine. Test interruptions and recovery before relying on the stream.
Troubleshoot common failures
