During an active YouTube live stream or Premiere, open live chat, find the message, select More, then choose Pin. Only the channel owner can pin a message, and only one creator-pinned message can be active at a time. A Super Chat is a separate, viewer-purchased highlight; it does not need a creator pin to appear above pinned messages.
Pin a message from desktop
- Open the active YouTube live stream or Premiere and its live chat.
- Find the message you want to keep visible. It can be yours or a viewer’s.
- Open More on that message and select Pin.
- To remove the pin, open More on the pinned message and select Unpin. Pinning a different message replaces the current pin.

Pin a message from the YouTube mobile app
- Open the active stream in the YouTube app and go to live chat.
- Find the message you want to pin.
- Tap More, then tap Pin.
YouTube’s mobile directions begin from creating a mobile live stream, but identify the message as one you or a viewer posted. The channel-owner-only permission and one-pin limit apply on mobile too. See YouTube’s live chat instructions.
Super Chat and a pinned message are different

Who can pin, and what moderators can do
YouTube identifies the channel owner as the role that can pin or unpin a message; moderators cannot use the pin control. Moderators can still help manage chat, including removing messages, putting users in timeout, hiding users, and reviewing held messages. Managing moderators have additional chat settings, but YouTube says they do not have access to Live Control Room or YouTube Studio. For a continuous stream, arrange for the channel owner to be available when a pin needs to change if the person operating chat is only a moderator. That is a practical consequence of YouTube’s role permissions, not a separate platform requirement.

Check Super Chat eligibility
Super Chat and Super Stickers are available only to eligible creators and eligible streams. YouTube lists creator location and compliance with fan-funding requirements and terms among the conditions. Super Chats are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, made-for-kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos, and when live chat or comments are turned off. Check the channel’s Earn area in YouTube Studio for feature access; availability should not be assumed. See YouTube’s eligibility, availability, and policies.
What changes on a 24/7 stream
The pin command is documented as a live-chat control; YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not say that pinning stops working after a stream has run for a particular number of hours. Long streams do have separate archive and playback limits: YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise viewers a complete replay or a full rewind window for an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. See YouTube’s guidance on archiving live streams and DVR on live streams.
