Estimate YouTube membership revenue from the channel’s recognized membership revenue for a chosen period—not from the number of hours a stream runs. YouTube says creators receive 70% of membership revenue after applicable taxes and fees are deducted. Treat that as an estimate, then reconcile it with finalized AdSense for YouTube earnings.
Use the 70% share on recognized revenue
For a period with membership revenue reported by YouTube, use:
Estimated creator membership revenue = recognized membership revenue Ă— 0.70
YouTube’s channel-memberships documentation says creators get 70% of membership revenue after applicable taxes and fees are deducted. YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees; its Commerce Product Module overview describes the share as 70% of net revenues from channel memberships. The calculation is therefore not necessarily 70% of the price a member sees. Individual agreements and channel circumstances can affect what applies, so this is an estimate, not a payout guarantee. (YouTube Help: channel memberships; YouTube Partner earnings overview)
Illustration—not a quoted membership price
If 100 members each paid a hypothetical $4.99 monthly price, the simplified pre-deduction total would be $499. Applying 70% to that simplified base gives $349.30. This is arithmetic only: it is not a YouTube price or guaranteed payout. Applicable taxes, fees, refunds, timing, local pricing and the recognized revenue reported for the period can change the result.

Why a 24/7 stream does not multiply membership revenue
Memberships are recurring monthly payments made in exchange for channel perks. A stream running continuously does not create an hourly membership rate, and you should not multiply the monthly estimate by 24 hours or by the number of days streamed. Stream duration may affect exposure or member acquisition, but YouTube’s reviewed documentation gives no formula that converts stream hours into membership revenue. Build a forecast from tiers and actual members
- Choose the period. Use the same start and end dates for member counts and revenue.
- List active paying members by tier. Use the actual tier mix and prices applicable to your channel and members’ locations; do not substitute a universal price.
- Estimate recognized revenue by tier. For a rough forecast, multiply each tier’s active paying member count by its applicable price for the period, then total the tiers. This is only a planning estimate: YouTube’s recognized amount can differ because of deductions, refunds and timing.
- Apply the 70% share to the recognized revenue base. Use the formula above, rather than assuming the displayed consumer-price total is the final base.
- Compare the estimate with finalized earnings. Keep the reporting period consistent and account for adjustments such as refunds.
YouTube’s official documentation does not establish an audience-size average, a typical revenue-per-member benchmark, or a universal percentage for taxes and fees. Your channel’s current prices, eligibility, terms and account reporting are the relevant inputs.

Studio Analytics revenue is estimated. Finalized earnings appear in AdSense for YouTube and may differ; refunds can reduce the creator’s share. - Taxes and fees: The 70% share is after applicable taxes and fees, not necessarily a straight share of displayed prices. The exact deduction for a particular channel or transaction is not established as one universal rate.
- Refunds and timing: Refunds and other adjustments can change the amount ultimately finalized. A Studio estimate and a finalized AdSense for YouTube figure may not match.
- Local pricing and terms: Member prices and the creator’s applicable agreement or eligibility can vary. Check the channel’s current Studio account and terms rather than applying another channel’s assumptions.
- Changing member mix: If comparing two periods, compare the same date range and account for active paying members, tiers, local price mix, recognized revenue, refunds or adjustments, and whether each figure is estimated or finalized.
