Justin Saliman is an orthopedic surgeon whom Sofia Vergara was publicly linked to from late 2023 through 2024. Her later comments suggested they had split, but neither person is quoted in the cited coverage making a direct breakup announcement. The latest relevant remarks here date to January 2025, so they do not establish either person’s relationship status today.
Who is Justin Saliman?
Saliman is an orthopedic surgeon associated with sports medicine, arthroscopy and joint-preserving treatment. ELLE reports that he is from Denver, studied sports medicine at Stanford, earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and completed orthopedic surgery residency at Columbia University’s St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. The outlet also reports that he practices at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles; that affiliation has not been independently confirmed against a current provider directory. ELLE’s profile provides the biographical account.
What happened between Sofia Vergara and Justin Saliman?
Coverage first linked Vergara and Saliman in October 2023, which indicates reported sightings or association rather than a confirmed relationship start date. Their relationship became more publicly visible in April 2024, when Vergara posted an affectionate Instagram story while discussing recovery from knee surgery.
Entertainment Tonight transcribed her message as: “If u ever get a [major] knee surgery make sure u Get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!! Luv u Dr @jdsaliman.” Noticias Caracol also reported that she wrote “Te amo, doctor Justin Saliman.” These are social-media remarks as transcribed by outlets, not evidence of a medical endorsement or a complete account of Saliman’s clinical work. Entertainment Tonight’s account and Noticias Caracol’s report describe the post.

How the breakup inference emerged
In July 2024, Entertainment Tonight quoted an unnamed source describing the romance as “more serious.” That was the source’s characterization, not a statement from Vergara or Saliman.
In October 2024, Vergara described herself as single in an interview. AS reported her wording as “ahora estoy soltera” (“now I’m single”); other coverage rendered the sentiment as “medio soltera” (“kind of single”). AS said she gave no further detail about Saliman, so the remark is not a breakup explanation. AS’s report gives its version of the interview.

On January 5, 2025, at the Golden Globes, Vergara named “a boyfriend” among her goals for the year, then added, “Or a lover, maybe.” ELLE interpreted that as suggesting the relationship had ended. It remains an inference from her remarks, not a direct announcement by either person. ELLE’s coverage of the Golden Globes comments records the exchange.
What is Justin Saliman known for professionally?

That is a reported transaction amount, not an independently verified purchase price in the sources cited here. Entertainment Tonight’s profile includes the professional background and acquisition figure.
