It marked a major live moment after years without regular band activity—not the end of the story: the group later announced six Sphere shows for May 2026.
When and where No Doubt played Coachella
No Doubt performed on Saturday, April 13, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The 2024 festival ran over two weekends, April 12–14 and April 19–21. The reunion had been presented as an unexpected addition when the lineup was revealed. The Associated Press reported the lineup announcement and placed the return in context of the band’s earlier reunion period.
The four musicians onstage were singer Gwen Stefani, bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young. No Doubt’s previous album, Push and Shove, arrived in 2012; the band entered a second hiatus in 2013 after its album cycle. Good Morning America’s pre-show account described the long gap before the Coachella set. Calling it a decade-long hiatus captures the broad span, rather than implying the group had made no appearances of any kind during that time.
What No Doubt played in its Coachella set
The band opened with “Hella Good” and closed with “Spiderwebs.” The set also included crowd-recognized songs such as “It’s My Life,” “Hey Baby,” “Underneath It All,” “Just a Girl” and “Don’t Speak.” The selection made the reunion legible to listeners who knew No Doubt chiefly through its biggest songs, while leaving room for material that had been less common onstage. ABC News/GMA’s performance report lists the set’s familiar songs and its opening and closing numbers.

Deeper cuts and a ska detour
The Los Angeles Times also noted “Ex-Girlfriend,” “Total Hate ’95” and a cover of Madness’ “One Step Beyond.” In its review, the paper described Stefani moving energetically across the stage and leading the crowd in “Just a Girl.” It read the performance of “Don’t Speak”—a song associated with Stefani and Kanal’s former relationship—as emotionally charged; that is the critic’s interpretation of the moment, not a claim about the performers’ private feelings. The Los Angeles Times review covers those songs and the stage performance.
The set was not simply a greatest-hits run. Setlist.fm reported that “Different People” was played live for the first time since 2009 and “Total Hate ’95” returned for the first time since 2012. It also noted that the set otherwise drew almost entirely from before the band’s first hiatus, with only an instrumental nod to the title track of Push and Shove. Setlist.fm’s retrospective gives that set-history context.

Olivia Rodrigo joined No Doubt for “Bathwater”
Olivia Rodrigo came onstage to perform “Bathwater” with Stefani, wearing an “I ♥ ND” shirt, according to ABC News/GMA. Rodrigo’s brief appearance offered a visible link between No Doubt’s catalog and a younger generation of pop fans. It was a guest spot on one song, not a full set with the band.
What Gwen Stefani said before the reunion
Before the performance, Stefani discussed the reunion in an interview with Nylon reported by Good Morning America on April 9. Her remarks describe anticipation, not a post-show verdict. She said: “It’s been a long time coming. It’s been something that we were going to do.”

She also anticipated the familiarity of playing together again: “I already know what it’s going to feel like because we’re just so in sync when we’re on stage. We’re going to be laughing, and we’re going to look at each other and go, ‘Oh my gosh — there you are.’” On the significance of the appearance, she said: “[Coachella will] be a really nice bow to tie on the relationship, because we were kids [when we met],”
That “bow” language reflected Stefani’s pre-show perspective on the band’s long relationship. It should not be read as proof that Coachella was planned as No Doubt’s final performance.

Coachella was not the final chapter
In April 2024, the band had not announced a tour or new music, and the setlist retrospective described no further plans at that time. The later development changed the picture: the Associated Press reported that No Doubt announced six Sphere performances in May 2026. The Coachella reunion was therefore a return to a major stage after a long inactive stretch, not the band’s last planned appearance. The Associated Press report covers the 2026 Sphere announcement.
