To reduce overheating risk during a long YouTube stream with Streamlabs Mobile, start with free steps: update the app and phone, close other apps, turn off nonessential notifications, keep the phone out of direct sun and hot surroundings, and avoid charging while streaming if you can. Test with a shorter broadcast before relying on a long one. These steps may reduce strain, but no Streamlabs setting, phone model, or accessory can guarantee that a device will stay cool.
How do I stop my phone from overheating while streaming on Streamlabs?
Work through these low-cost checks before going live. Streamlabs recommends closing open apps to help device speed and reduce potential lag or crashes; it also advises turning off notifications to avoid interruptions. Neither recommendation is published as a thermal fix.
- Update the software. Install available updates for Streamlabs Mobile and your phone’s operating system before the broadcast. App-store notes and reports can change over time; a historical user complaint is not proof of a current, widespread Streamlabs defect.
- Close other open apps. This is Streamlabs’ explicit mobile setup advice and can reduce competing work on the phone.
- Silence nonessential notifications. This can prevent interruptions during the stream. Use your phone’s available focus or notification controls.
- Choose a cooler location. Keep the phone out of direct sunlight and away from hot surroundings. Avoid placing it where its ventilation or heat dissipation may be obstructed.
- Skip charging during the stream if practical. Streamlabs recommends avoiding simultaneous charging. Apple also notes that charging may slow or stop if an iPhone or iPad gets too warm.
- Run a short test stream. Use the same phone, location, mounting arrangement, overlays, and approximate stream settings planned for the longer broadcast. Watch for rising warmth, performance changes, or a device warning before committing to an extended session.
Streamlabs’ mobile settings include video output resolution, expected frame rate, and maximum bitrate, but the cited guidance does not identify a value that prevents overheating. If the phone is getting unusually warm, you can cautiously test a lower output resolution or frame rate, or remove demanding overlays, then compare how the device behaves. Treat this as troubleshooting—not an official Streamlabs thermal prescription or a guaranteed remedy.
Why does my phone get hot when I livestream to YouTube?
Livestreaming combines extended camera use with demanding video processing and a sustained network connection. High-quality streaming and prolonged camera use can make a phone warm; warmth by itself does not prove the phone or Streamlabs is faulty. Device model, ambient conditions, software state, stream workload, and charging all affect what happens. The available guidance does not establish how many degrees a stream adds or how much any particular setting changes temperature.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Heat can also affect the broadcast indirectly. Apple says an iPhone or iPad that is too warm may dim or turn off its display, weaken cellular signal, temporarily disable camera features, reduce performance, or slow or stop charging. Any of these changes can disrupt a live stream. Apple’s guidance applies to iPhone and iPad; Android warning thresholds and model-specific procedures are not established here, so Android users should consult their phone manufacturer.
Can I charge my phone during a long stream?
Avoid charging at the same time when you can: Streamlabs recommends it, and Apple says charging may slow or stop when an iPhone or iPad is too warm. If a long broadcast requires external power, do a short test in the intended setup and monitor the phone. Do not treat a charging arrangement as safe simply because it worked in a different room or on another device.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
What should I do if my phone shows a temperature warning?
Take the warning seriously and follow the device maker’s instructions. For iPhone and iPad, Apple’s guidance is to turn the device off, move it to a cooler environment away from direct sunlight, and allow it to cool. End the broadcast if needed rather than trying to keep streaming through a temperature warning. Apple says: “If your device doesn’t display a temperature warning, you can keep using your device.” That is not a reason to ignore other signs of trouble or to continue if the device itself instructs you to stop.
Apple lists a storage temperature range of -20º to 45º C (-4º to 113º F) on its support page. That is a storage range, not a recommended ambient temperature for streaming.

Does YouTube’s 12-hour livestream guidance mean my phone can stream that long?
No. Google’s 2025 mobile livestream guidance says streams up to 12 hours are automatically converted to video-on-demand; streams longer than 12 hours should be recorded for manual upload. This is archive-handling guidance, not a phone endurance rating or a safe streaming duration. Monitor the device throughout the broadcast rather than assuming a particular number of hours is safe.
Are phone coolers worth trying?
A clip-on phone cooler is an optional experiment, not an evidence-proven fix for Streamlabs Mobile overheating. Apple’s advice supports moving the device to a cooler environment; it does not establish that a fan or semiconductor cooler will work for a particular phone and stream. If considering one, check exact phone and case fit, mounting stability, noise, power needs, and whether it blocks the camera, buttons, or airflow. Its effectiveness for your setup is not established.
