XSplit describes Broadcaster as Windows software for live streaming and recording, with platform plugins or Custom RTMP available for sending an output. Can you stream on YouTube for 24 hours with XSplit?
The available XSplit license information does not answer whether a particular 24-hour session will remain uninterrupted. YouTube’s separate help pages describe archive and rewind limitations, not a universal rule that ends a live broadcast at 12 hours. A 24-hour stream may therefore raise preservation and viewing-feature issues even when XSplit has no stated duration cap.

Plan for the archive
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a 24-hour broadcast, do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive to preserve the whole session. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.
Understand the DVR caveat

Prepare XSplit and YouTube for a long session
YouTube’s encoder recommendations are operating guidance for sending a stable stream, not XSplit license conditions. For H.264, YouTube currently recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. Consult the full encoder settings and bitrate guidance for other resolutions and frame rates.
- Check the stream destination and key. In XSplit, configure the YouTube platform output or Custom RTMP destination and use the stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password; do not share or publish it.
- Match the encoder to the intended output. Set the resolution and frame rate you plan to broadcast, then choose a bitrate appropriate to that combination. For H.264 at 1080p30 or 720p30, use YouTube’s recommendations above as the reference points.
- Test before the planned broadcast. YouTube recommends testing the stream and monitoring stream health. Check that the incoming signal is stable before committing to an overnight or 24-hour session.
- Leave bandwidth headroom. YouTube advises maintaining sufficient upload bandwidth rather than using all available capacity for the stream. A home connection that fluctuates or is shared with other traffic can undermine continuity.
- Record locally if the footage matters. Confirm that local recording is enabled, that the recording drive has enough capacity for the planned duration, and that the file is growing as expected. This is the practical backup for YouTube’s over-12-hour archive caveat.

Troubleshoot interruptions and missing recordings
- The stream disconnects or becomes unstable: Check XSplit’s output status and YouTube’s stream-health indicators, then verify that the upload connection has spare capacity. Test again before restarting a long session.
- The stream is live, but viewers cannot rewind far enough: This can be YouTube’s DVR limitation for streams longer than 12 hours, not evidence of an XSplit license restriction. See the DVR help page.
- The broadcast ends and no full YouTube archive appears: YouTube warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Use the local recording if available; for future long sessions, keep a local archive rather than relying on automatic capture.
- The local recording is missing or incomplete: Check that recording was enabled, the target drive had free space, and the file continued growing during the broadcast. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend checking local archive files.
- You are considering Premium solely to remove a time limit: XSplit’s comparison and FAQ publish no duration limit for either tier and do not say Premium removes one. Verify current terms with XSplit rather than buying on that assumption.
