If the local vMix output is wrong, adjust the affected audio input’s delay in Audio Mixer settings; if local output is correct, investigate encoder load, stream health, archive recordings and upload stability before changing that delay. The steps below work for an India-based stream, but the official guidance reviewed does not identify India as a cause of sync problems.
1. Find where the sync problem begins
Compare the vMix program output or a local recording with the stream as viewed in YouTube. Use a test with clear visible movement and a matching sound, such as a hand clap, and check the YouTube version in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement representative of the real stream.
- Both local output and YouTube are out of sync: investigate the production and input chain first.
- Local output is synchronized, but YouTube is not: check encoding, stream-health messages and delivery conditions before changing an input offset.
- The offset changes over time: note when it begins and whether the local recording changes too; this helps distinguish an input timing issue from a delivery problem.
Record whether sound is early or late, whether the offset is steady or drifting, and whether the picture and sound enter vMix together or through separate inputs. These observations help narrow the cause.
2. Correct a local input timing problem in vMix
When a particular audio input is early or late relative to its picture, vMix lets you adjust that input’s delay. Its guide notes that separately added camera and audio inputs can arrive at different times, and audio may arrive sooner.

- In vMix, open Audio Mixer.
- Click the settings button for the affected audio input.
- Open General and locate Delay.
- Adjust the delay in milliseconds. If the sound is early, increase its delay.
- Replay the same visible-and-audio cue and make small further adjustments, checking the result after each change.
There is no universal millisecond value: measure the mismatch in your own signal path rather than copying a number from someone else’s setup. If the picture and audio are carried separately, check their routing and arrival timing. vMix’s guide gives camera audio embedded through a capture-card input as an example of a combined input path; consider routing changes or compatible hardware only after confirming your camera, connection standard and current setup. A different input path will not fix a sync problem introduced later by YouTube delivery.

3. If only YouTube playback is wrong, inspect the delivery path
Do not compensate for a YouTube-only problem by changing a vMix input delay if the local recording is synchronized: that can make the local output wrong without addressing the cause. Use the same period of the broadcast to compare local evidence with YouTube’s status and encoder output.
- Check the encoder output: YouTube recommends checking the stream directly in the encoder. If it appears and sounds healthy there, continue investigating what happens during delivery.
- Read Live Control Room stream health: inspect the error or status messages and their timestamps. Compare the time a message appears with when the sync issue begins.
- Check vMix and the computer: look for encoder CPU load or other signs that the system is struggling during the affected period.
- Inspect a local archive: play the matching section to see whether it has the same mismatch. For a 24/7 stream, do not assume YouTube will provide one complete archive: its encoder setup page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, which does not promise a single complete file for a 24-hour run.
- Test the outbound connection: measure upload at the actual streaming location and under the conditions when the issue occurs. Check whether other people or devices share the connection.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance treats a healthy encoder output as a reason to examine the outbound internet connection. See YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guide and its live-stream metrics guide.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
4. Check upload headroom and buffering
YouTube recommends that available upload bandwidth exceed the total streaming bitrate by 20%, and warns that a shared network can reduce the capacity available to the stream. Treat that as a planning recommendation—not a measurement of your Indian ISP or a guarantee of stable delivery. Test from the stream location, including during the periods when the network is busiest.
vMix’s Network Buffer is the maximum time vMix can buffer; server and player buffers can add further latency. vMix says increasing the network buffer may help when network speed is unreliable. A larger buffer can also add delay, so it is not a substitute for adjusting an input’s audio delay when the problem is local lip sync. Likewise, Stream Delay and network buffering concern delivery latency; input Delay is the control for input timing. See YouTube’s streaming tips and vMix Help 27: Streaming Quality.

5. Verify encoder settings against YouTube’s guidance
Confirm the active vMix encoder settings and compare them with YouTube’s current encoder guidance and the messages shown in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), and 44.1 kHz audio sampling for stereo. Its recommended stereo audio bitrate is 128 kbps. These are recommendations, not proof that a particular setting caused a sync problem; change settings deliberately and check the result.
vMix Help 27 says AAC is the audio option when FFMPEG is selected. Check which encoder you are using rather than assuming every vMix encoder exposes identical controls. YouTube’s encoder page lists RTMP/RTMPS video codecs and audio codec options. For the full settings context, see YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions guide and vMix’s streaming quality documentation.

6. Monitor a 24/7 broadcast and preserve evidence
YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality and stream health continuously. For a long-running stream, keep a local recording or archive when practical, check that it is growing, and inspect the segment around any reported issue. Because the stated automatic archive threshold applies to streams under 12 hours, arrange separate local evidence if you need to review a longer continuous run.
- Keep a note of when sync changes and the corresponding Live Control Room status or error timestamps.
- Compare the same moment in the local recording, vMix output and YouTube playback.
- Check upload stability and system load during the affected interval, not only before going live.
See YouTube’s live-stream tips and its encoder setup guidance. The official sources cited here do not establish that India itself causes sync drift; use measurements from your actual connection and stream location.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your 24/7 stream uses uploaded videos rather than a live camera, StreamNeo can keep a YouTube channel live from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
