How to Keep OBS Streaming a YouTube Playlist on JioFiber in India

Use Ethernet when possible, allow upload headroom, and test your actual JioFiber-to-YouTube connection before running an OBS playlist stream continuously.

To keep an OBS playlist stream running reliably on JioFiber, connect the streaming computer to the router by Ethernet if possible, choose a bitrate your actual connection can sustain with about 20% upload headroom, and test the stream before making it public. JioFiber does not have a verified, universal OBS bitrate: the right setting depends on your line’s sustained upload, other network traffic, and the route to YouTube’s ingest server.

Choose settings your upload connection can sustain

YouTube’s current H.264 encoder recommendations vary by resolution and frame rate. They are platform recommendations, not measurements or guarantees for any JioFiber subscriber. YouTube also recommends leaving 20% upload bandwidth headroom. Applying that margin means dividing the stream bitrate by 0.8; the resulting figure is an approximate available-upload target before accounting for other household uploads.

Output YouTube H.264 recommended bitrate Approximate upload target with 20% headroom
1080p60 17 Mbps 21.25 Mbps
1080p30 14 Mbps 17.5 Mbps
720p60 8 Mbps 10 Mbps
720p30 8 Mbps 10 Mbps

The upload targets are arithmetic illustrations based on YouTube’s stated recommendations, not JioFiber speed guarantees. Other devices uploading files, cloud backups, or video calls reduce the bandwidth available to OBS. If your connection cannot sustain the target comfortably, lower the output resolution, frame rate, or bitrate and test again.

Configure YouTube and OBS for the stream

Use supported, stable encoder settings

YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265, and AV1 codecs, constant bitrate (CBR), frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest. Select options supported by your OBS setup, and do not assume the highest resolution or frame rate is best for a continuous broadcast. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live stream and locate its stream URL and stream key. Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions.
  2. In OBS, open the streaming settings and enter the YouTube stream URL and key. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS.
  3. Start the encoder and check the YouTube preview and stream-health indicators. Test with representative audio and moving video before making the broadcast public.

Looping the playlist in OBS

A playlist played locally into OBS is an encoder-source workflow; it is not the same as sharing a YouTube playlist for ordinary viewing. The exact current OBS interface steps for looping a local playlist are not established here, so verify the source or playlist-plugin workflow in the OBS version you use rather than relying on guessed menu names. Before leaving a stream unattended, confirm that the playlist advances and returns to its beginning, and that both audio and video continue through a full cycle.

Test the actual JioFiber-to-YouTube path

  1. Connect the OBS computer to the JioFiber router by Ethernet if feasible. OBS notes that Wi-Fi may be unstable for streaming and recommends a wired connection. A suitable Ethernet cable can help avoid local wireless variability, but it cannot fix ISP-side congestion or a poor route to YouTube.
  2. Run an upload-speed test from the same computer and connection that will stream. Treat the result as a snapshot, not proof that the route to YouTube will remain stable throughout a long session.
  3. Reduce competing uploads and leave the recommended headroom. Test privately or unlisted with the intended resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio, and playlist.
  4. Watch OBS’s connection status and dropped-frame counter, as well as YouTube’s stream health. Check again during the test rather than judging by the initial preview alone.

Jio’s support FAQ describes Jio NetVelocity on a Jio Set Top Box for checking upload speed, latency, network quality, and Wi-Fi or LAN performance. It also suggests restarting the router, using LAN, or running MyJio diagnostics when results are below expectations. Those checks can help diagnose a connection, but a set-top-box result does not measure the streaming computer’s sustained route to YouTube ingest. The available official guidance does not establish a special JioFiber OBS setting or a guaranteed upload rate for an individual subscriber. See Jio’s NetVelocity FAQ.

Troubleshoot disconnects and dropped frames

Identify which OBS statistic is rising before changing settings. Network-dropped frames point to an unstable connection to the ingest server or a connection unable to sustain the configured bitrate. Encoder or rendering lag is a different problem; changing network settings will not necessarily address it. OBS’s network troubleshooting guide explains the distinction and possible network checks.

Symptom What to check What to try
OBS network-dropped frames rise Whether the configured bitrate exceeds stable upload capacity; Wi-Fi, cables, router connection, competing uploads, VPN, security software, network-prioritization utilities, and network drivers. Lower bitrate or output demand, pause other uploads, check the router and cables, and try Ethernet. Change one setting at a time; restore defaults if a change does not help.
OBS shows encoder or rendering lag, not network drops OBS statistics and logs to identify whether encoding or rendering is the issue. Investigate the relevant encoder or rendering load rather than treating it as an ISP fault.
Viewers report buffering, but OBS has no network drops Viewer-side connection quality and device differences. Consider a lower bitrate, which may make the stream more accessible to some viewers.
A speed test looks good but the stream still disconnects Whether the test used the OBS computer and whether the route to YouTube remains stable over time. Test with a lower bitrate and Ethernet if possible; monitor both OBS and YouTube during a representative session.

OBS documents Windows-only options for network optimizations, TCP pacing, and dynamic bitrate. Dynamic bitrate may reduce quality and does not repair the underlying connection. Test these options cautiously and individually; return to defaults if they do not help.

Plan for long broadcasts and archives

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous broadcast exceeding that duration will be retained as one complete archive. If you need a recording, plan local recording and storage separately, and confirm the current YouTube archive behavior for your workflow. Keep copyright and permission in mind: streaming a playlist does not grant rights to its music, video, or other material. Review YouTube’s current encoder guidance and applicable rights before broadcasting.
