To loop a Malayalam devotional video on YouTube Live with OBS Studio, add the recording as a Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to the YouTube broadcast with its stream key, and set the encoder to match your chosen resolution, frame rate, codec, and reliable upload capacity. Test both picture and sound in YouTube’s Live Control Room before the broadcast.

Set up the video loop in OBS

  1. Create a scene and add the file. In OBS, add a scene, then go to Sources → Add → Media Source. Select the video file in the source properties. OBS supports common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
  2. Enable Loop. Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties. This is an OBS playback setting: it restarts the file when playback reaches its end; it is not a YouTube setting. If you want a playlist rather than one file, OBS’s VLC Video source has a Loop Playlist option and requires VLC to be installed. A single Media Source does not require VLC.
  3. Choose the scene layout. Set the base canvas and output (scaled) resolution in Settings → Video. Match the layout to the recording’s dimensions where practical. A video-only scene is sufficient; text, artwork, or other visual sources are optional. OBS sources can be positioned and resized within the scene. See the OBS overview.
  4. Check the audio source. Open Settings → Audio to check selected audio devices, then watch the Audio Mixer meters while the media plays. Confirm that the recording’s sound is included in the actual stream and that levels are appropriate. A visible picture does not by itself confirm that audio is being sent.

Connect OBS to the correct YouTube broadcast

  1. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room for the intended broadcast and retrieve its stream key and server details.
  2. In OBS, open Settings → Stream and select YouTube, or choose a custom server if that is how you are connecting. Enter the server and stream key associated with that broadcast.
  3. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before relying on it again.
  4. Use RTMPS when available. YouTube recommends it as the secure extension of RTMP. Confirm that the Live Control Room preview receives the intended stream before starting the public broadcast.

See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and OBS’s streaming guidelines.

Choose resolution, frame rate, and encoder settings

There is no universal bitrate for every setup. Choose the output resolution and frame rate together, then use YouTube’s recommendation for the selected codec and matching output. The figures below are YouTube-published H.264 examples, not guarantees of performance on a particular computer or connection.

H.264 output YouTube-recommended bitrate
720p at 30 fps 5 Mbps
1080p at 30 fps 10 Mbps
1080p at 60 fps 17 Mbps

These examples apply to the resolutions, frame rates, and H.264 codec shown; consult YouTube’s full table for other combinations and for H.265/HEVC or AV1. Do not copy a bitrate intended for a different codec or output. Your upload connection must sustain the chosen stream reliably; if it cannot, reduce output demands rather than assuming a higher bitrate will improve delivery.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Rate control: use CBR, as YouTube recommends.
  • Keyframes: set the interval to 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
  • Frame rate: YouTube supports up to 60 fps. Use a rate suited to the source and the computer’s encoding capability.
  • Audio: YouTube recommends 128 Kbps stereo and lists 44.1 kHz for stereo audio. Verify that the source audio is present in the stream.
  • Connection: use RTMPS where available.

When available in OBS, select an encoder and codec supported by your setup and the YouTube ingest path. YouTube’s recommendations include H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, but their bitrate recommendations differ. The settings available in OBS depend on the computer and installed encoding hardware or software.

Test the complete stream before the devotional broadcast

  1. Run a short private or otherwise appropriate test using the same video, audio, output settings, and connection you intend to use.
  2. Check the YouTube Live Control Room preview for the correct picture and listen for the recording’s audio.
  3. Watch YouTube’s stream-health feedback and address warnings before the real broadcast.
  4. Let the test run long enough to confirm the file reaches its end and restarts cleanly, with no missing audio at the loop point.

OBS recommends testing before a first live stream, and YouTube advises testing and monitoring stream health. A test checks signal delivery; it does not establish that you have rights to use the media.

Copyright and YouTube policy for devotional recordings

The technical setup does not grant permission to stream the recording. Before going live, establish that you have the necessary rights to the particular video, music, performance, and any other included material. Devotional subject matter alone does not establish that a recording is free to use. YouTube may detect or receive claims about copyrighted material; consult YouTube’s current copyright guidance and monetization policies for rules that apply to your channel and content.

Troubleshooting common loop and stream problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or change
The recording stops instead of restarting Loop is off, or the source is not configured as expected. Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. Confirm the selected file and test through the end of playback.
The video appears, but viewers cannot hear it The source audio may not be included or the wrong audio device may be selected. Check Settings → Audio, watch the Audio Mixer meters during playback, and verify sound in the YouTube preview.
YouTube does not receive the stream The stream key or server may not correspond to the selected broadcast, or the connection may be unavailable. Confirm the details in the intended Live Control Room, re-enter the matching values in Settings → Stream, and check stream health.
The stream has warnings or unstable delivery The chosen bitrate, resolution, or frame rate may exceed what the encoder or upload connection can sustain. Use the YouTube recommendation for the actual codec and output, then lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate as needed and test again.
A playlist does not loop The source may not be configured for playlist playback. For a playlist, use OBS’s VLC Video source, install VLC, and enable Loop Playlist. For one recording, use Media Source with Loop.
