Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To run space footage as a continuous YouTube live stream, send a video source through an encoder to a YouTube broadcast: create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio, enter its server URL and stream key in the encoder, start the footage, check the preview, and go live. The important limits are rights and reliability: you need permission for both live and archived use, YouTube may interrupt content it identifies as a third-party match, and streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as archives.
Choose footage you are allowed to stream
Start with rights, not the playback setup. YouTube’s livestream terms make the creator responsible for having the necessary worldwide rights to content used live and in archives, including music. A video being publicly viewable does not mean it can be rebroadcast.
- Use footage you created or have permission to redistribute in a live stream and, if relevant, its recording.
- Check the terms for every asset, including music, overlays, logos and footage contributed by others.
- If you license third-party material, ask its owner to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent YouTube from interrupting a stream when the channel is not allowlisted.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can cause a placeholder image, interruption or termination. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and its Terms of Service.
Using NASA footage or the ISS feed
NASA publishes film footage and imagery, but use is subject to its Media Usage and Advertising Guidelines. NASA insignia, logos, identifiers and imagery should not be assumed to be public domain; review the conditions for the specific asset and avoid implying NASA endorsement. Do not call a stream “official NASA” unless you are authorized to do so.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
NASA’s official live page provides an ISS viewing source. That does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. If you want to use the feed in your own stream, obtain explicit rights rather than treating public access as a license.
Set up the YouTube broadcast and encoder
YouTube Studio supplies the broadcast details; an encoder sends your footage to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. Google’s production guide says enabling live streaming for a channel for the first time can take 24 hours, so prepare before the planned start.

- Enable live streaming in advance. Sign in to YouTube Studio and follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions to enable access and create or schedule a stream. If this is your channel’s first live broadcast, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Set up the event. In YouTube Studio, choose a title, description, privacy setting and schedule. Confirm that the planned content and any archive comply with the rights you have.
- Choose an encoder and provide the source. Use compatible streaming software, enter the server URL and stream key shown for the broadcast, and configure the encoder to send the space-footage video and any audio you intend to include. Keep the key private: it identifies where the encoder sends its feed.
- Prepare a repeating source if you want a loop. A playback application configured to repeat a cleared video is one possible way to keep supplying footage to the encoder. YouTube’s cited setup documentation does not specify a particular player or looping procedure, so confirm that your chosen software repeats reliably and continues feeding the encoder before relying on it.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Check the picture, audio and stream health in YouTube’s Live Control Room. When the preview is correct, select Go live in YouTube Studio.
- Monitor the stream. Check the connection, upload capacity, picture and audio during the broadcast. YouTube recommends a reliable connection and bandwidth headroom; a network disruption can break the stream. For a long unattended session, plan who will check it and how you will respond if the source, encoder or connection stops.
YouTube’s guide has the current encoder workflow and supported setup details; follow the controls available in your selected encoder rather than assuming every program uses the same labels.
Choose the ingestion method that fits your setup
For most creators, a compatible encoder configured through YouTube Studio is the direct route. YouTube’s Live API distinguishes the incoming liveStream feed from the viewer-facing liveBroadcast, and lists RTMP/RTMPS, HLS and DASH ingestion. These are distinct ways to deliver a feed, not interchangeable instructions for every encoder.

HLS has specific documented requirements: muxed M2TS audio and video, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, a closed GOP and a single encoded stream. These requirements apply to HLS ingestion. Unless you are implementing HLS directly, use the settings exposed by your encoder and YouTube’s current guidance instead of manually constructing an HLS feed. See the YouTube Live API documentation and HLS ingestion guide.
Plan for continuity and archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Treat 12 hours as an archival reliability limit, not a promise that a shorter stream will run without interruption. If the archive matters, plan broadcasts for less than 12 hours and record locally as a backup. See YouTube’s live stream archive guidance.

Shorter sessions make archiving more predictable but require a transition between broadcasts. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a gapless handoff, so do not promise uninterrupted viewing across a restart unless you have validated the transition in your own setup. Keep a local recording if preserving the footage is important.

- The stream cannot start: If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation may still be processing; Google’s production guide says it can take 24 hours. Check the channel’s live access and the scheduled broadcast in YouTube Studio.
- YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm the encoder is running, that its source is playing, and that you entered the correct server URL and stream key for this broadcast. Check the Live Control Room preview before going live.
- The picture or sound stops: Check whether the playback source has ended, paused or failed to repeat, then inspect the encoder and connection. The playback application’s loop behavior is setup-specific, so verify it rather than assuming YouTube will repeat the file.
- The broadcast drops or becomes unstable: Check the connection and available upload capacity, and follow YouTube’s advice to use a reliable network with bandwidth headroom. A local encoder depends on the computer and connection remaining available.
- YouTube replaces the picture or interrupts the feed: Review the live copyright notice and the rights for the matched material. If the content is licensed, ask the rights holder about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist; the license by itself may not stop automated interruption.
- The archive is missing: A broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Keep sessions under that duration when an automatic archive matters, and retain a local recording as backup.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded space-footage loop, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live: upload the cleared video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The stream runs without a computer or home connection staying on. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and it does not grant rights to footage you do not own or have permission to use.
