To run a Tibetan Buddhist mantra channel continuously on YouTube, send a prepared audio-and-visual program through YouTube’s encoder workflow, test it as an unlisted stream, and make sure you have the rights to every recording. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a rights owner may need to allowlist your channel even when you have permission. A 24/7 schedule is your operating goal—not a continuous-broadcast guarantee from YouTube.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current Help page also says streamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance because platform requirements can change.
- Live-stream access enabled. YouTube for Artists recommends enabling access at least 24 hours before the planned first broadcast; this is a recommendation, not a guarantee that access or checks will be resolved by then. See YouTube for Artists’ live-stream guidance.
- A prepared mantra program, an appropriate visual, an encoder, and a reliable internet connection. YouTube’s encoder method supports overlays and equipment such as preamps, microphones, and cameras, but the source does not specify a minimum computer configuration. Choose hardware to suit your encoder software, output resolution, overlays, and other video sources.
- Clear rights to the audio and visuals, including any permissions or Content ID allowlisting needed for live use.
Set up and test the broadcast
- Confirm channel eligibility and enable live access. In YouTube Studio, check that the channel is verified and that it has no live-stream restriction. Allow time for enablement before your planned start; YouTube for Artists recommends at least 24 hours.
- Create or schedule a live stream in YouTube Studio. Choose the encoder option and use the stream settings and ingestion details YouTube provides. The Live Streaming API distinguishes the stream resource—the incoming feed and its settings—from the viewer-facing broadcast. It documents ingestion types including DASH, HLS, RTMP, and RTMPS; follow the method and connection details shown for your broadcast. - Prepare the program. Set up the mantra audio and a suitable visual, such as a still image or prepared video. Add overlays only if they serve the program. Check that the audio remains intelligible and consistent, and that the visual is appropriate for a continuous broadcast.
- Connect the encoder using YouTube’s stream details. Keep the stream key private: it is the credential that lets an encoder send content to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing. Use the ingestion protocol and settings YouTube provides rather than guessing at server details.
- Rehearse as an unlisted broadcast. Confirm that sound and picture reach YouTube, the connection remains stable, and the correct program is playing. YouTube for Artists particularly recommends an unlisted test for high-production or high-investment broadcasts. Do not make the stream public until you have also checked rights clearance.
- Start the public broadcast and monitor it. Watch the outgoing encoder and the live viewer experience. For a continuous-broadcast goal, plan for recovery if the computer, power, network, or stream connection fails. YouTube does not promise that one broadcast will remain live indefinitely.
Clear the rights before you go public
YouTube Help states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If a match remains, a live stream may be interrupted or terminated. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Permission to use a recording does not necessarily prevent an interruption. YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist; otherwise, “your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the third-party content.” Keep written permission and confirm that it covers a continuous YouTube livestream, the relevant territory, and any required allowlisting. Do not assume that a recording is safe to use because it is described as royalty-free, publicly available, or purchased.
If you archive the finished broadcast, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the live stream ends. An archive claim is a separate consideration from the risk of interruption while the stream is live.

Plan for continuous operation
A 24/7 channel depends on the whole chain working: the program source, encoder, power, internet connection, and YouTube ingestion. A local setup gives you direct control over files and configuration, but you are responsible for keeping the equipment and connection available and for responding to failures. A hosted encoder can remove the need to operate a local machine continuously, but you still need a recovery and monitoring plan. YouTube documents encoder streaming; it does not endorse a particular 24/7 hosting service or guarantee uninterrupted operation.
- Keep a copy of the approved program and configuration so you can restore them after a failure.
- Decide how you will detect a lost feed and restart the encoder or broadcast.
- Test recovery during an unlisted rehearsal rather than waiting for a public interruption.
- Check the live output after any change to the audio, visual, connection, or stream settings.
