Before you set it up, get written permission to rebroadcast the exact recordings: NIOS materials confirm that video programmes are available on YouTube, but that does not grant permission to retransmit them on your own channel. You can run an encoder on a computer, use standalone hardware, or use a cloud service; each approach sends a stream URL and key to YouTube.
First confirm what NIOS offers—and what you may rebroadcast
NIOS student material says video programmes are available on YouTube. Check the specific course, subject, playlist and files before directing learners to them; the existence of a video on YouTube does not establish a licence to rebroadcast it elsewhere. The reviewed NIOS material does not grant a blanket right to run its recordings as a continuous third-party stream. Keep NIOS’s services distinct. Its Citizen’s Charter describes Mukta Vidya Vani as a 24/7 web-streamed audio service; that is not evidence of an official 24/7 NIOS YouTube video stream. NIOS also has a separate Virtual Open School, where its site says learners can attend live interactive classes and watch recorded sessions and videos. Choose how to keep the stream running
YouTube’s encoder guidance describes software encoders on computers, standalone hardware encoders and cloud tools. These are different ways to send a live feed; none removes the need to clear rights and configure the stream in YouTube Studio.

YouTube’s encoder page lists verified encoder products and notes that the listed products are not made by YouTube. Product availability, pricing and partner terms vary and are not established here. No specific computer or encoder has been tested for this setup. A mini PC is one possible way to run software encoding, not a YouTube or NIOS requirement; check its cooling, power, network and restart behavior before relying on it continuously.
Prepare the channel and recordings
- Clear the rights. Get written authorization for continuous rebroadcast of the exact recordings on your proposed channel, and confirm it covers embedded third-party material.
- Check live-stream eligibility. YouTube’s current live-start guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; it also says a streamer must be at least 16. - Prepare a playlist of cleared files. Decide the order, check that the playlist returns to the intended start, and confirm that picture and sound stay in sync. Retain your source files separately.
- Select the encoder approach. Use a computer software encoder, standalone hardware or cloud service. For a local setup, make sure the chosen machine and connection can remain available, and decide how an operator will respond to power, network or encoder interruptions.
Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream using YouTube’s encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with viewers. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Load the cleared recordings or playlist into the encoder or cloud tool. Configure playback to loop if continuous playback is intended. Encoder settings depend on the tool and source files; use its supported settings rather than assuming a particular bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval.
- Start the encoder output and check the YouTube live preview and stream health before sharing the watch page. Confirm the correct lesson is playing and that audio and video are synchronized.
- Run a test with material you own or are licensed to use. Check that the playlist returns to the intended start, and test how the chosen setup behaves after a brief interruption before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.
Plan for interruptions and replay archives
A 24/7 feed depends on the encoder approach you choose. A computer or hardware encoder at home still relies on local power and network access; a cloud encoder can keep playback off your home computer. Before launch, identify who will check the live preview and how the stream will be restarted if the encoder or connection fails.

YouTube’s encoder help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast exceeds that stated archive window, so do not promise viewers a complete replay from one stream. Keep the original files and, if replay archives matter, consider scheduling shorter sessions. Check YouTube’s current guidance before deciding how to handle archives. YouTube encoder setup
Copyright and monetization are separate checks
YouTube may interrupt a live stream over copyright issues, and its guidance also covers Community Guidelines strikes. Permission to use a recording does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy says minimally changed material from other sources may be ineligible under its reused-content rules, even where the creator has permission. Common problems and what to check
- Live streaming is not available yet: Confirm channel verification and eligibility, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. Check for any live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube live eligibility
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck that the stream URL and key in the encoder match the stream in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private; replace it if it has been exposed.
- The lesson does not loop as intended: Check the encoder’s playlist and repeat settings, then test the transition back to the first file before going live.
- The picture or audio is wrong or out of sync: Check the selected source files and encoder configuration, then verify the live preview before sharing the stream.
- The stream stops after a local outage: Check power, internet access and whether the encoder restarted and resumed output. Test this recovery path in advance; local equipment depends on local power and connectivity.
- A stream is interrupted for a rights issue: Recheck permissions for every recording and embedded element. Do not assume that finding a lesson on YouTube makes it available for rebroadcast.
