To stream a prerecorded video on YouTube Live from an Indian cloud provider, play the file through an encoder on an India-region cloud virtual machine (VM), then send the encoder’s feed to a YouTube Live event using its stream URL and private stream key. YouTube Live does not take a video file directly as an encoder feed. A managed prerecorded-video service can handle playback instead; YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded streaming.
Choose how to play and send the video
YouTube Live receives a feed from an encoder. The encoder plays or processes your stored video and sends the resulting stream to the event. For prerecorded material, there are two practical operating models:
| Approach | What you operate | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Managed prerecorded-streaming service | A service that handles cloud playback and streaming. YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud-based service for 24/7 prerecorded video streaming. | Can reduce server and encoder operations; check the service’s current availability, terms, pricing, and suitability for your channel and location. |
| Self-managed cloud VM | A VM in an Indian region, a media file accessible to it, an encoder such as FFmpeg, and the process configuration and monitoring. | Gives you control, but you must configure playback, looping or scheduling, stream output, restarts, and process supervision yourself. |
YouTube’s encoder directory also lists AJA HELO Plus PlayToStream as allowing prerecorded media to be scheduled and streamed directly to YouTube Live without a computer. These are directory listings, not YouTube endorsements.
What an Indian cloud region does—and does not—provide
A cloud region is where you can run infrastructure; it is not a ready-made YouTube prerecorded-streaming workflow. AWS lists Mumbai and Hyderabad regions. Google Cloud identifies Mumbai (asia-south1) for its Live Stream API, but that does not mean the API is required for a generic VM encoder or establish VM availability through that API.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose a region by considering network latency, service availability, cost, resilience, and proximity to the storage holding your media. A nearby region may help reduce network distance, but its location alone does not guarantee a particular stream quality or reliability.
Prepare the YouTube channel and live event
- Enable live streaming. YouTube offers mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming routes; for a cloud VM sending a file, use the encoder route. YouTube says first-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it before the planned broadcast.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a live event or schedule one. Set the audience, title, visibility, and start time appropriate to your broadcast.
- Copy the encoder connection details. Get the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube and enter them in your encoder or managed service. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, put it in a public script, or share it with people who should not control the stream.
- Prefer RTMPS if supported. RTMPS is RTMP over TLS/SSL and encrypts the connection from a compatible encoder to YouTube. Use the secure ingest URL supplied for the event when your encoder supports it.
Run a prerecorded stream on an Indian cloud VM
1. Arrange the file and runtime
Provision a VM in the Indian region you selected, install an encoder such as FFmpeg, and make the video file accessible to that VM. The appropriate VM size, storage, and encoder settings depend on the file, target output, and provider; there is no universal size or cost established for this workflow.

For a continuing channel, decide how playback should behave when the file ends: stop at a planned time, start another file, or loop the same file. Configure scheduling and process supervision deliberately so an ended or failed encoder does not silently leave the event without a feed.
2. Configure the encoder for YouTube
Set the encoder to read the stored file and send a continuous feed to the YouTube event using its stream URL and key. Configure the output format and bitrate for the content and the channel’s intended quality, and use the event’s supported ingest settings. Exact values vary with the media and chosen output; the available guidance does not establish one set of FFmpeg options suitable for every file.

AWS publishes an FFmpeg example for streaming a recorded video to Amazon IVS over RTMPS. It illustrates the general pattern of encoding a file and sending a live feed, but it targets IVS, not YouTube. Do not copy that command as though it were a YouTube setup. For YouTube, configure the destination and stream settings from the YouTube event and the encoder documentation you are using.
3. Test before the scheduled start
- Start the encoder while the YouTube event is in preview mode.
- Check the preview in Live Control Room before making the event public or beginning the scheduled broadcast.
- Confirm that both audio and video are present and play as expected; monitor them during the broadcast as well.
- Make sure available outbound upload bandwidth exceeds the configured stream bitrate. YouTube recommends about 20% upload bandwidth headroom beyond the stream bitrate.
4. Operate and finish the broadcast
Keep the encoder process supervised and monitor its output, the VM, and the event in Live Control Room. Plan how you will respond to a stopped process, lost file access, or a dropped YouTube connection; recovery behavior depends on how you configure the VM and encoder.

When finished, stop the encoder and end the event as appropriate. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If a saved replay matters, plan the broadcast duration around that limit.

Having a file available to stream does not by itself establish that you have the rights to broadcast it. Before scheduling, confirm that you have permission for the video, music, and other included material, and check YouTube’s applicable live-stream and channel policies. A stream can be interrupted or otherwise affected by rights or policy issues even when the encoder is configured correctly.

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The event or encoder option is unavailable | Live streaming has not been enabled on the channel yet. | Enable live streaming and allow for YouTube’s stated first-time activation window, which may take up to 24 hours. |
| YouTube receives no feed | The encoder is stopped, the stream URL or key is incorrect, or the VM cannot reach the ingest endpoint. | Check that the event is open, the encoder is running, and the URL and private key match the event. Review encoder and VM connectivity logs. |
| The preview is unstable or drops frames | Available upload bandwidth may be too close to the configured bitrate, or the VM or network may be under strain. | Check the encoder’s bitrate and outbound capacity; YouTube recommends about 20% bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate. Review resource and network monitoring. |
| The broadcast ends when the file ends | Playback was configured as a single pass rather than a loop or playlist. | Set the intended playback sequence and test its end-of-file behavior before the public event. |
| The stream stops after a process or connection failure | The VM workflow may lack process supervision or reconnect handling. | Inspect process logs and configure restart or recovery behavior for the chosen encoder and host. YouTube also lists managed prerecorded-streaming options, but their current service terms should be checked directly. |
| Video appears but audio does not | The file or encoder output may lack an expected audio track or may be configured incorrectly. | Check the source file’s audio and confirm the encoder output includes it; verify both in YouTube’s preview. |
