Start with 1280×720 at 30 fps in OBS, then move to 1920×1080 at 30 fps only if a representative test shows stable upload, capable encoding and healthy YouTube stream status. YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrates are 4 Mbps for 720p30 and 10 Mbps for 1080p30; those are platform recommendations, not proof that a particular JioFiber connection can sustain them around the clock.
Choose a resolution your connection can sustain
Resolution, frame rate and bitrate work together. A higher-resolution or higher-frame-rate stream needs more data and may also demand more from the computer’s encoder. For a 24/7 broadcast, stability over time matters more than a brief speed-test peak.
YouTube’s current H.264 guidance recommends the following video bitrates. These are recommendations for the listed formats, not measurements of your line: YouTube’s live encoder settings.

The figures above are for H.264. YouTube also supports H.265/HEVC and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingest, with codec-specific bitrate ranges; do not apply the H.264 recommendations to those codecs. YouTube supports frame rates up to 60 fps.

720p30: the cautious starting point
Use 1280×720 at 30 fps for your first sustained test. Its recommended H.264 video bitrate is 4 Mbps. It is a practical starting mode when you have not yet established that your connection and computer can maintain a higher-load format.
1080p30: move up after testing
Use 1920×1080 at 30 fps only when a representative test remains stable at the recommended 10 Mbps H.264 video bitrate, with room for normal connection variation and other household traffic. If the picture is a static documentary slate or a slowly changing scene, quality needs may differ from footage with frequent motion; test with content resembling the actual broadcast.

When 60 fps makes sense
Choose 60 fps only if the source benefits from smoother motion and your connection and encoder can sustain the added load. YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrate is 6 Mbps for 720p60 and 12 Mbps for 1080p60. Lower resolution or frame rate if the stream becomes unstable.
Set the OBS output and encoder
OBS labels can vary by version and output mode. Its YouTube workflow directs streamers to the Output settings for stream output configuration: OBS Studio’s YouTube streaming guide. Set the stream’s output resolution, frame rate and encoder bitrate consistently with the format you chose.

- Prepare the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream in the Live Control Room workflow and select the stream settings. YouTube ordinarily detects the encoder’s resolution and frame rate. Manual resolution behavior is available through custom stream key settings.
- Set OBS resolution. Open OBS’s video/output controls and set the intended stream output resolution. Begin at 1280×720. Use 1920×1080 only after testing confirms it is sustainable.
- Set frame rate and bitrate. Match the chosen format and use the corresponding H.264 recommendation above if streaming with H.264. Do not confuse video bitrate with the total upload consumed by video, audio and network overhead.
- Set rate control and keyframes. Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, as YouTube recommends.
- Use a supported ingest protocol. Use RTMP or RTMPS in a way consistent with YouTube’s current guidance; prefer RTMPS where available.
- Run a representative test. Use similar motion and audio to the real broadcast, leave it running long enough to expose variability, and monitor YouTube’s stream-health feedback. YouTube transcodes incoming live streams for viewers at different formats, so the encoder’s input resolution is not the only version viewers may receive.
Check JioFiber upload under real conditions
Jio describes JioFiber as symmetric, meaning advertised upload speed equals download speed, and advertises service speeds up to 1 Gbps: JioFiber service information. Neither statement establishes the sustained upload available to your particular plan, location, Wi-Fi or Ethernet path, household network, or a continuous broadcast.
Measure from the computer that will run OBS under conditions resembling your normal streaming hours. Prefer a wired connection if available, and avoid configuring OBS at the full speed-test result: leave headroom for variation and other network use. A single speed test is a snapshot, not a guarantee of 24/7 capacity.

Check the plan terms if the stream is commercial
Jio’s plan FAQ describes home plans as unlimited but also says RJIL may discontinue data services for misuse, fraudulent, unauthorized or commercial use. The FAQ does not establish whether a specific continuous YouTube broadcast counts as commercial use. If any constraint fails, choose the lower-load mode. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health rather than assuming that a published connection speed guarantees a particular stream quality.

Troubleshoot an unstable stream
- OBS reports connection trouble or YouTube shows unhealthy ingestion: lower the video bitrate first. If the problem continues, reduce frame rate or resolution and test again.
- A speed test looks fast but the stream still drops: the test may not reflect sustained upload, Wi-Fi interference, household traffic or the route used by the streaming computer. Retest under representative conditions and leave more upload headroom.
- The stream is unstable at 1080p30: switch to 720p30 at the corresponding H.264 recommendation and check whether stream health improves before trying a higher mode again.
- The computer struggles while the network appears stable: lower resolution or frame rate and confirm the encoder can keep up. Connection speed alone cannot resolve an encoding-capacity limit.
- YouTube does not use the resolution you expected: verify the encoder output and the Live Control Room stream settings. YouTube normally detects resolution and frame rate; custom stream key settings provide manual resolution behavior.
- A continuous broadcast may be outside the plan’s permitted use: consult Jio’s terms for your specific plan and ask Jio if the stream is commercial; the general FAQ does not decide that question for every broadcast.
