You can build a continuous YouTube music stream with an encoder and a separate system that feeds it a rotating playlist—but you need explicit permission for continuous live rebroadcast before you start. Chillhop Music’s official creator terms specifically say not to use its music for a 24/7 stream, so access to its creator catalog does not authorize this format. YouTube also scans live streams for copyrighted matches and may interrupt them, including when a licensed channel has not been allowlisted.
First, make sure the music is cleared for this format
Do not treat owning an audio file, subscribing to a music service, finding a track in a playlist, or having permission to use music in an ordinary creator video as permission to broadcast it continuously. Before building the stream, obtain written permission from the relevant rights holders for the exact use you intend.
What to get confirmed in writing
- Permission for continuous YouTube livestreaming, not just use in a one-off video.
- Whether the permission covers the countries in which you plan to broadcast and the audience you expect.
- Whether you may keep an archived livestream or replay it as a VOD after it ends.
- Coverage for both the sound recording and the underlying composition. Confirm who controls each right.
- How Content ID claims will be handled, and whether the YouTube channel can be added to the rights holder’s allowlist.
- Whether the license permits the planned rotation and ongoing use of the catalog.
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, trigger a warning, or lead to temporary interruption or termination. YouTube also warns that a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not on the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist. Ask the rights holder to arrange allowlisting before going live; see YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a livestream. That coordination is not itself proof that your specific 24/7 use is permitted: confirm the rights and claim-handling process for your channel and format directly. See YouTube for Artists.

Why Chillhop’s creator access is not enough
Chillhop Music’s official Creators FAQ expressly says not to use its music to create a 24/7 music stream and warns that such a stream will be taken down. It also limits creator use to tracks in its dashboard, requires credit, says its music is not royalty-free, and prohibits using its Spotify or Apple Music playlists as livestream sources. Its credit instructions do not override the specific restriction on 24/7 streams. Do not use Chillhop music for this format unless the rights holder gives you separate, explicit written permission that changes the applicable terms.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube’s current Help guidance, accessed in 2026, says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Users must be at least 16 to livestream. The page also lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. Rules can change, so confirm eligibility in YouTube Help and in Live Control Room before planning your setup: Get started with live streaming.

Plan the rotation and broadcast chain
An encoder sends your audio and visuals to YouTube. A separate audio source or playlist mechanism supplies the tracks in rotation. The encoder workflow does not, by itself, grant music rights or establish that tracks will rotate correctly. You must choose and configure a rotation method separately and test its behavior before the public broadcast.
What the setup needs to do
- Play only tracks cleared for continuous live use, in the order and rotation permitted by their licenses.
- Feed the audio into the encoder along with the stream’s visual scene, such as a static or animated visual you have permission to use.
- Continue cleanly from one track to the next, including after the playlist reaches its end. Verify transitions, gaps, volume consistency, and what happens if a file is missing or playback stops.
- Send the encoded broadcast to YouTube through Live Control Room and keep watch on the encoder’s connection state.
- Use only artwork and visual assets you have permission to broadcast. Music permission does not automatically cover cover art, logos, or other visuals.
YouTube identifies encoder streaming as an option for more elaborate audiovisual setups. OBS is one free, open-source encoder choice; its documentation says it connects directly from the computer to the streaming destination. Neither source establishes a built-in OBS song scheduler or a turnkey 24/7 rotation workflow. Check the chosen player, audio routing, and encoder documentation rather than assuming a playlist feature will work unattended. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and OBS streaming documentation.

Configure and test before going public
- Verify eligibility. Confirm channel verification and live access in YouTube Live Control Room. Review current YouTube limits for the number of active streams and streams per key.
- Clear the catalog and visuals. Obtain written live, territory, archive, and recording/composition permissions. Ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID, and keep the license and required credit details accessible.
- Prepare the rotation. Add only approved tracks to your playlist or other audio source. Test the full sequence, including the transition at the end and restart of the rotation. The reviewed platform and encoder documentation does not prescribe a particular rotation application.
- Build the encoder scene. Connect the approved audio source and permitted visuals. Configure the encoder’s stream destination using YouTube’s current Live Control Room instructions. Protect the stream key: do not publish it, include it in a public scene, or share it with people who do not need access.
- Run a private or otherwise controlled test. Check that audio reaches YouTube, the visuals display as expected, the playlist advances, and the stream remains connected long enough to test normal operation. Confirm the rights holder’s allowlisting before a public launch; a test does not establish that the catalog is cleared.
- Monitor the broadcast. Keep an eye on YouTube Live Control Room and the encoder’s status. OBS says dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or a connection unable to sustain the configured bitrate. Adjust only against the actual connection and encoder guidance; the sources here do not establish a universal bitrate, computer specification, or network speed for 24/7 service.
- Choose whether to archive. If you enable an archive, verify that your permissions cover the saved replay as well as the live transmission. YouTube says Content ID claims on archived livestreams are made after the stream ends when the creator chooses to archive it.
Keep a 24/7 stream operating
A 24/7 broadcast depends on more than an encoder being set up once: the audio rotation, computer, network connection, and monitoring all have to keep working. OBS notes that dropped frames can point to connection instability or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Plan how you will notice a stopped playlist or disconnected encoder and how you will restart them. The cited documentation does not establish a guaranteed uptime, required hardware, automatic restart design, or failover plan for a 24/7 stream.
For an encoder-based setup, the computer running the encoder and its internet connection are part of the broadcast chain. Test the exact arrangement you intend to leave running, and decide who will respond if playback or the connection fails. Do not assume that a successful short test proves unattended reliability.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely issue to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Stream shows a placeholder, warning, or interruption | YouTube detected a third-party match; a licensed channel may not be allowlisted. | Check Live Control Room and contact the rights holder. Confirm the track and channel are covered and request Content ID allowlisting. Do not resume the same material until the rights and claim status are resolved. |
| Encoder reports dropped frames | The connection may be unstable or unable to sustain the configured bitrate. | Check the network and encoder status, then follow the encoder’s connection guidance and test a sustainable configuration. OBS describes these as common meanings of dropped frames. |
| Audio stops or the same track repeats unexpectedly | The separately configured player or rotation may have reached the end, encountered a missing file, or failed to advance. | Test the full playlist cycle and its end behavior, verify the source files, and confirm playback is still feeding the encoder. |
| Livestream works but the archive receives a claim | Archived livestreams can receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends; archive rights may also differ from live rights. | Review the claim and the written license, confirm archive/VOD coverage, and resolve the issue with the rights holder before making the replay available. |
| Stream ends after a copyright or Community Guidelines strike | YouTube says a strike can terminate a livestream. | Review the account notification and YouTube’s applicable guidance; resolve the account or rights issue before attempting another broadcast. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded recordings rather than a live camera or a locally running encoder, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo does not grant music rights. You still need explicit permission for the tracks, continuous live use, territories, and any archive, and must resolve Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera broadcast or a song-rights service. Start the free first day on StreamNeo.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Chillhop’s Spotify or Apple Music playlist as the stream source?
No. Chillhop’s official creator guidance says those playlists may include music outside its label and may not be used as livestream sources.
Does a short successful test prove the stream is cleared and safe to leave running?
No. A test cannot substitute for written rights covering the planned broadcast and archive, or for testing the rotation, connection, and recovery behavior of the setup you will actually use.
