These are useful first checks, but Meta’s accessible guidance covers general Facebook video problems rather than a complete Live-specific troubleshooting process, so no single step is guaranteed to fix a broadcast.
Start by identifying what is failing
Separate a broadcast problem from a feature or device problem before changing settings. Note whether you are using the Facebook app on a phone or Facebook in a computer browser, whether the problem affects only Facebook, and what happens when you try to go live.
- It will not start or keeps disconnecting: check the connection first.
- The computer experience behaves unexpectedly: check the browser, then restart the computer.
- Viewers cannot hear you: check the selected microphone and its access permissions.
- Only a Live effect is missing: check that you are using the documented app workflow for effects.

Reconnect or test another network
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi, or try a different network if one is available.
- If the connection is slow, restart the router or modem, then try again.
- Retry the broadcast and note whether the same problem returns.
These are Meta’s general suggestions for Facebook video problems; the available guidance does not establish them as a complete diagnosis for a Live broadcast. It does not recommend buying new networking equipment.

Facebook Live is behaving strangely in a computer browser
- Update your browser to a current version. Meta lists Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge for the best Facebook video experience.
- Close the browser and restart the computer.
- Retry the action that failed and note any error message shown.

My Facebook Live has no sound
- Confirm that the intended microphone is selected and enabled on the device.
- Check the computer or browser’s microphone permissions and allow Facebook to access the microphone if appropriate.
- Try again and check whether sound is still absent.

A Live effect is missing
If the problem is specifically adding an effect, Meta’s instructions describe using the Facebook app on iOS or Android. Check that you are following that app workflow. To make your report useful, record the device, whether you used the app or a browser, the browser name if relevant, the network type, what you tried, and any error text displayed. A separate Meta Help Center item is titled “Troubleshoot issues if you’re live-streaming to Facebook,” but its substantive instructions are not available here; current eligibility rules, supported streaming setups, and exact error meanings therefore cannot be confirmed.
