To give Streamlabs Cloudbot a custom name, connect a separate account with that username to Cloudbot; the bot uses the connected account’s username as its identity. Streamlabs associates custom naming with an Ultra subscription. When Twitch asks you to authorize an account, make sure you select the bot account—not your primary account.
What determines Cloudbot’s name?
Cloudbot’s visible identity comes from the username of the account connected to it. You do not rename the bot by changing your primary channel’s username or by editing a standalone name field. Streamlabs’ guide says to use a separate account for the bot and says custom naming is an Ultra feature. The Cloudbot product page describes Cloudbot and its other listed core features as free.
How to set up a custom Cloudbot name
- Sign in to Streamlabs with your primary account and make sure Cloudbot is enabled in the dashboard. If you need to add an account, Streamlabs says you can do so through Account Settings.
- Open the Cloudbot dashboard and select the Settings tab.
- Choose a separate bot account with the username you want viewers to see. Streamlabs recommends a separate account rather than using your personal Twitch username.
- Connect the bot account. In the dashboard, use the “Click here to add” flow to connect it to Twitch. When Twitch’s authorization page appears, check which account is selected. Twitch may default to your primary account; if it does, choose “not you?” and switch to the bot account before authorizing.
- Test the bot in your channel. Confirm that it appears under the intended username and can respond as expected.
Which platforms support custom naming?
Streamlabs’ name-customization guide documents the procedure for Twitch and says the same steps can be followed for YouTube. Streamlabs’ Cloudbot product page also lists Kick as a supported platform, but that page does not establish that the custom-name procedure works on Kick. Do not assume that general Cloudbot support for Kick confirms this particular feature there.
If the custom bot does not respond
- Check that Cloudbot is on and modded. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance says the bot must be enabled and made a moderator in the channel. If you use a custom bot identity, mod that selected identity.
- Recheck the authorized account. If the primary account was connected by mistake, reconnect using the separate bot account and verify the account shown during Twitch authorization.
- Restart after a name change. If the bot stopped responding after changing names, Streamlabs recommends turning it off, relogging, and turning it back on.
Or let it run in the cloud
Changing Cloudbot’s identity is separate from keeping a YouTube video stream live. If your goal is to loop uploaded videos on YouTube, StreamNeo is a cloud service that runs the stream without leaving a computer on at home: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams videos as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only and does not broadcast a camera feed. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
