For a pre-recorded YouTube stream that must run continuously, choose software built for cloud-based 24/7 playback rather than a tool that only schedules a finite broadcast. StreamNeo is our first option to consider: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer can stay off, and it supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. YouTube’s encoder guide also lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. A local encoder such as OBS can work too, but then you are responsible for keeping the computer, media, and internet connection available.
The key distinction is whether you need a continuous loop, a scheduled one-off event, or a stream you operate yourself. Those are different jobs, and software that handles one is not automatically suitable for the others.
Best software for each 24/7 streaming approach
| Option | Best fit | Playback and operation | Important limit or check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Creators who want uploaded videos or playlists to keep a YouTube channel live without leaving a computer running. | Cloud-based continuous looping; add a YouTube stream key once. It supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. | StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. Each slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots. Confirm your playlist fits available storage. |
| 2. Gyre | Creators evaluating a dedicated cloud service for continuous prerecorded streaming. | YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. | The YouTube listing is a directory entry, not an endorsement or guarantee of uninterrupted service. Verify current loop controls, supported media formats, interruption handling, terms, and pricing with Gyre. |
| 3. Local software encoder, such as OBS | Technically confident creators who want to manage their own stream output and already have a suitable computer and connection. | The encoder runs on your computer and sends the stream to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. | You must maintain the computer, network, and source media. A local encoder does not outsource uptime management. |
| 4. StreamYard prerecorded scheduling | A finite prerecorded broadcast that should start at a chosen time, rather than one continuous 24/7 loop. | Its documented workflow can schedule a prerecorded video to go live at the selected time, including to YouTube. | Its help article lists maximum prerecorded-video lengths of two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Team and StreamYard Business. Those limits do not establish support for a single 24/7 loop. |
StreamNeo’s monthly option is $9.99 per month. Its first day is free with no card required; there is one free day per account. See StreamNeo pricing for the available billing periods and StreamNeo for the service details.
Choose by the job you need done
Continuous looping
For a playlist or video feed intended to run around the clock, check that the service expressly supports continuous playback and handles operation in the cloud. YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre in this category. StreamNeo is another cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream. You do not need to keep OBS, a home computer, or your home connection running.

Before committing to any service, check what happens if YouTube disconnects, whether playback resumes automatically, how you can replace media or stop the stream, and how the service reports current status. The available product information establishes category fit for Gyre, but does not establish its current plan limits, independently measured uptime, or recovery performance. Do not treat a directory listing as a service-level guarantee.
Self-hosted encoding
A local encoder gives you control over the stream output, but the computer has to remain powered and connected for the broadcast to continue. This approach makes sense if you can monitor the machine and network, and can recover the stream when something fails. YouTube’s setup flow requires the encoder to use the YouTube stream URL and stream key; keep the key private because it authorizes streaming to your channel.
Scheduled prerecorded events
Scheduling a recording to start at a set time is not the same as looping it indefinitely. StreamYard documents scheduled prerecorded broadcasts to YouTube, but the documented video-length caps are two hours for Core, four hours for Advanced, and eight hours for Team and StreamYard Business. Its scheduling guide says custom RTMP destinations do not support advance scheduling. Check current plan details before relying on a limit or feature, since plans can change.

How to run a local encoder with YouTube
This is the do-it-yourself route for a prerecorded stream. The exact encoder controls vary by software and version; use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for its recommended output settings rather than assuming one bitrate or resolution fits every upload and connection.
- Prepare the source. Keep the recording accessible to the encoder for the entire broadcast. If you want a repeated sequence, configure a playlist or looping workflow that your chosen encoder actually supports; do not assume a scheduled-video feature repeats automatically.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key using YouTube’s live setup. Select the intended privacy, title, and audience settings before going live.
- Configure the encoder. In the encoder’s stream or broadcast settings, choose the custom YouTube destination and enter the server URL and stream key. Select output settings supported by both the source and the encoder, following YouTube’s current guidance for resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval.
- Start and verify the encoder output. Confirm that YouTube receives the signal and that the preview looks and sounds correct before starting the public broadcast. A successful encoder connection alone does not confirm that the intended video, audio, or loop behavior is correct.
- Keep the system available. Leave the computer awake, the encoder running, the source media accessible, and the internet connection stable. Plan how you will notice a stopped encoder or lost connection and restart the broadcast.
- Protect the replay separately. If the recording matters, retain your original file or create a separate local recording. YouTube warns that it may not capture streams longer than 12 hours, so a live broadcast continuing does not mean a complete replay will be preserved.
What to compare before choosing
- Playback duration: Is the product designed for continuous looping, or does it schedule one finite recording?
- Who maintains uptime: Does playback run in a vendor’s cloud or on your own computer and connection?
- Recovery and controls: Can you see whether the stream is active, replace content, end early, and recover after YouTube drops the connection?
- YouTube connection: Is YouTube a native destination, or must you enter a server URL and stream key in an encoder?
- Storage and source media: Check supported formats, playlist behavior, and storage against the size and duration of your material.
- Archive needs: Decide whether you need a replay or rewind. Very long broadcasts have YouTube archive and DVR caveats.
- Rights and channel suitability: Confirm broadcast rights for every element and consider whether the content provides original, meaningful viewer value.
- Total cost and terms: Compare the plan that covers your actual run length, storage, and number of streams. Verify current terms at checkout rather than relying on old or promotional prices.
Copyright, monetization, and long-stream replay
Rights still belong to the creator
YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content, including relevant music licenses. Use material you own or have cleared, and check that licenses cover both live broadcast and any replay. A streaming tool does not grant rights to music, footage, or other included material.
Repeated content can create monetization risk
YouTube’s monetization guidance expects monetized channels to publish original and authentic content. It identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic” and says reused content without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value can cause monetization problems. The policy applies to the channel overall; looping an existing video does not make it original. This is a policy risk, not a prediction that every continuous stream will be rejected.

Do not rely on a 24/7 stream as its own archive
YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours and warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. It also warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, so viewers may not be able to rewind as expected. If a complete replay or rewind matters, preserve a separate recording and plan an archive strategy instead of assuming the full continuous broadcast will be available afterward.
Cost and operating trade-offs
A self-hosted stream may avoid a cloud-service subscription, but it makes your computer and connection part of the operating cost and failure path. Cloud streaming shifts playback off your machine; compare the actual service plan, storage allowance, recovery behavior, and billing period before choosing. StreamYard’s pricing page notes that prices can vary with promotions, seasonal deals, renewal terms, and custom offers, so a displayed price should not be treated as universal or permanent.
