Choose how to keep the lesson feed running
YouTube accepts live video from an encoder. For prerecorded lessons, the encoder or service must also play the lessons in a loop or schedule; YouTube’s general setup instructions do not prescribe a specific 24/7 configuration.

YouTube’s encoder directory includes examples for continuous prerecorded streaming. A directory listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee of uptime; check a service’s current looping, recovery, archive, and pricing details before relying on it.
Prepare a continuous IELTS lesson feed
Build the playlist for viewers joining at any time
Choose a sequence that makes sense when someone arrives mid-broadcast. Label lessons clearly, provide enough on-screen context to identify the skill or task, use readable slides, and check that audio levels are consistent. Test transitions between recordings so the loop does not leave long gaps or abrupt, confusing changes. These are production checks; YouTube does not automatically manage IELTS lesson playlists.

Match the lesson plan to the test
IELTS’s official preparation resources include sample tasks and other learner materials. Use them to understand task formats and develop original explanations and practice. Listening and Speaking are the same for Academic and General Training; Reading and Writing differ. See the IELTS preparation resources and General Training sample questions.
Set up YouTube Live and connect the encoder
- Check channel readiness. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. YouTube encoder setup and live-streaming tips.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Follow the current prompts there for the broadcast details.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s corresponding fields. The stream key is a credential: do not publish it, share it casually, or leave it in a public screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Preview before going live. Wait for the feed preview in Live Control Room. Check the correct lesson is playing, slides are legible, audio is present and balanced, and transitions work. Then start the stream from the encoder and go live as prompted.
- Check the public watch page. Open the stream from your channel and test it on a phone as well as your production screen. Confirm playback and audio, and make sure the title and description set accurate expectations for a repeating lesson feed.
- Monitor and test recovery. Keep an eye on stream health, picture, sound, and playlist progression. YouTube recommends testing the setup, monitoring quality, and checking a backup encoder failover. Do a test before relying on the stream; a live feed is not self-monitoring.
Plan the archive separately from the live broadcast
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, and recommends keeping a local archive backup. It warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as one guaranteed, complete replay on the channel.

Decide how you will retain lesson recordings and any continuous-feed recording independently of the live stream. If viewers need to revisit a specific lesson, publish or organize that lesson separately where appropriate rather than relying on a single 24-hour broadcast archive. Confirm what your encoder or cloud service records and where it stores files before launch.
Clear rights for every item in the stream
Only broadcast material you have the right to use. That includes lesson video and audio, music, slides, images, test questions, model answers, and any clips embedded in a recording. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even if you have a licence, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
- No live option or encoder connection: Recheck channel verification and live-stream eligibility, then confirm that the encoder has the current server URL and stream key copied from the right Live Control Room stream. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- Preview is missing or wrong: Check that the encoder is sending the intended playlist and that its URL and key match the scheduled stream. Wait for the preview before starting, then inspect the encoder’s output and connection if it does not appear.
- Audio, slides, or transitions are poor: Review the source lesson files and playlist order, then preview again. Check sound levels, slide readability, and the points where one recording ends and the next begins.
- The broadcast stops or is interrupted: Check Live Control Room and the encoder for stream health, then inspect whether a copyright match was detected. YouTube may interrupt or terminate streams that match third-party content. Test backup encoder failover in advance rather than waiting for an outage.
- The full-day replay is missing: This can happen because YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use an independent recording and archive plan rather than expecting the entire 24-hour broadcast to appear automatically.
- The stream key may be exposed: Reset or replace it in YouTube, update the encoder with the new key, and verify the preview before resuming.
