Use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer to join relaxation clips in playlist order, then place -stream_loop -1 before the playlist input to repeat that sequence while rendering. For a two-hour file, for example, set an output duration with -t 02:00:00. This creates a new video to upload; if you only want to repeat playback on YouTube, use YouTube’s player or playlist loop controls instead.
Choose between making a long video and looping playback
An FFmpeg export is useful when you need one longer file to upload or distribute. It takes processing time and storage, and the source clips must be compatible with the method you choose. If you simply want continuous playback on YouTube, no export is necessary: YouTube supports looping an individual video or repeating a playlist from its player controls. Prepare the playlist file
Put the playlist and source media in a folder where paths are easy to check. Create a plain-text file named relaxation.ffconcat with one file directive per clip, in the desired playback order:

Check whether the clips are compatible
The concat demuxer expects the files to have matching streams, codecs, and time bases. Files with different stream layouts or properties may not concatenate cleanly using this method. Inaccurate durations, or audio and video tracks with unequal lengths, can also create timestamp artifacts or gaps between clips.
- Use the concat demuxer when the clips’ streams are compatible and you want to avoid re-encoding.
- If clips differ and need a consistent output, decode and re-encode them to matching streams. FFmpeg’s FAQ describes the concat filter as the approach for concatenation when re-encoding is needed; consult the FFmpeg FAQ and FFmpeg command-line documentation.
- Before a long render, test a short section and inspect the transitions, sound, and synchronization.
Render a finite looped video
For compatible clips and a two-hour output, use this command from the folder containing the playlist:

This is a command pattern, not a guarantee that every FFmpeg build or source set will produce the same result. Confirm the installed FFmpeg version, input streams, and output before relying on a long render. FFmpeg options apply according to their position, which is why the loop option precedes the input.
Use YouTube-friendly export settings
YouTube recommends an MP4 container and H.264 video, with AAC-LC or Opus audio, 48 kHz audio sampling, progressive scan, and a frame rate that matches the recorded content. Its recommended upload encoding settings also give resolution-specific bitrate guidance; select bitrate based on the output resolution and frame-rate category rather than applying one rate to every file. Preserve the source’s frame rate where practical, and avoid choosing a higher resolution simply because it is available if the footage does not contain that detail.

YouTube processes uploads into playback formats, and processing time can depend on file properties and traffic. An export setting does not guarantee a particular processing time or playback quality. For upload details, see YouTube’s upload videos help page.
Check rights before uploading
Use footage and audio that you own or are authorized to use for the planned upload. Verify the license terms for each clip and soundtrack, including any restrictions on commercial use, redistribution, or repeated use. YouTube’s video and audio formatting specifications state that files delivered through the partner workflow described there must come from the copyright holder or an authorized representative; that statement is specific to that workflow, not a complete account of every uploader’s rights.

Troubleshoot common problems
- FFmpeg cannot recognize the playlist: Check that the file is plain text, the first line is exactly
ffconcat version 1.0if you use the header, and the input command specifies-f concat. Confirm there is no byte-order mark before the header. - A clip is missing: Verify each
filepath, spelling, quoting, and working folder. Use paths appropriate to your operating system. Keep-safe 0limited to trusted playlist contents. - The render stops early or exceeds the planned duration: Check the placement of
-stream_loop -1before-i, and set the intended output limit with-t. Confirm the duration format and the actual command being run. - There are gaps, glitches, or audio/video drift at joins: Check stream compatibility, stream time bases, and track durations. Normalize and re-encode mismatched inputs instead of assuming the concat demuxer can stream-copy them seamlessly.
- YouTube rejects or processes the upload slowly: Confirm the file’s container and codecs and review YouTube’s current upload guidance. Processing time varies with file properties and traffic.
