Yes. You can play local relaxation videos one after another in a YouTube live stream by adding them to an OBS Studio VLC Video source playlist, arranging them in the order you want, and leaving shuffle off. The playlist runs in OBS; a regular YouTube playlist does not queue files into your live broadcast.
Set up an ordered playlist in OBS
- Install OBS Studio and VLC. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC as well. If the source does not appear after installing VLC, restart OBS. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
- Choose or create a scene. In OBS, select the scene you intend to use for the relaxation stream.
- Add a VLC Video source. Add a new source of that type to the scene, then add the local video files to its playlist.
- Arrange the files. Put the playlist entries in the intended playback order and check the displayed sequence. The documented feature is a playlist of media items; it does not establish that choosing a folder automatically imports and sorts every file in it.
- Set the ending behavior. Leave Loop Playlist on if the sequence should restart after the last file. Turn it off if playback should end when the final item finishes. Keep Shuffle Playlist off to preserve the listed order.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, obtain the server URL and stream key for your live stream, then enter them in OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the stream key as a password-like credential that connects the encoder to the stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions; do not share the key.
- Preview and rehearse. Check that both picture and sound play as expected before making the broadcast public. YouTube recommends testing and previewing an encoder stream. Its live-streaming guide explains the available options.
Folder order and other playback approaches
Do not assume that OBS will use a folder’s file-name order just because the videos are stored together. Add the clips to the VLC Video playlist and verify the displayed order yourself. For a straightforward sequence, this is the documented OBS playlist workflow.
Individual media sources arranged across scenes may suit a production that needs more direct scene control for each clip, but it involves more setup than a single playlist. OBS documents the VLC Video playlist option directly; consult its media-source guide for the supported behavior.
Check YouTube eligibility, copyright, and monetization
Live-stream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to stream. Streamers must be at least 16, and first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the channel’s Live Control Room before scheduling the broadcast. Rights to video and audio
You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast the content, including music. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; if a rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist, the stream may be interrupted even when you have a license. Owning a copy of a recording, or having a general license, does not by itself establish that your channel is cleared for this live use. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
Monetization is not guaranteed
YouTube’s monetization policy update of July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible; the policy applies to live streams. That caution does not establish that every relaxation stream is ineligible, nor can eligibility be promised for an individual channel. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
