What the documentary is about
The Letter: A Message for Our Earth is a documentary inspired by Pope Francis’s 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’. It follows a dialogue between the Pope and five people whose stories connect with the experiences of poor communities, Indigenous peoples, young people, and wildlife. The film’s stories span Senegal, Brazil, India, and Hawaii, linking environmental damage with social justice and its effects on communities.
The documentary premiered at the Vatican on October 4, 2022, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Vatican News identifies Off The Fence Productions as its producer and YouTube Originals as its presenter.
