What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If a YouTube 24/7 stream buffers on BSNL broadband, first check the stream-health message and timestamp in YouTube Live Control Room, then compare your encoder’s actual bitrate with stable upload capacity. Test the streaming computer on Ethernet as well as Wi-Fi if possible. These checks can help separate encoder or local-network trouble from an issue on the router, ONT or provider path; buffering alone does not prove BSNL-wide trouble, packet loss or upload jitter.
Start with the YouTube stream-health error
While the problem is happening, open YouTube Live Control Room and note the stream-health status, the exact error text and its timestamp. YouTube’s live dashboard checks the incoming stream and displays errors alongside the health indicator. An error that coincides with buffering gives you a useful point to compare against encoder and network observations.
Check whether the local preview or a recording/archive also looks or sounds faulty. If it does, inspect the video source, encoder settings and computer load first. If local output appears healthy but viewers see interruptions, focus next on the outbound connection and the path carrying the stream to YouTube. This comparison narrows the investigation; it does not identify a particular network component by itself.
Check encoder settings and upload headroom
Use the encoder’s configured output—not the source file’s bitrate or a speed-test download result—to assess whether the connection can carry the live stream. YouTube recommends leaving room for variation: “Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).” Its guidance applies to the total stream bitrate and the upload bandwidth available to the stream; other devices or users sharing the connection can reduce that available capacity.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For H.264 live ingestion, YouTube’s recommended settings include these modes:
| Output mode | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
These are YouTube live-streaming recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular broadband connection can sustain them. YouTube also recommends a keyframe interval of 2 seconds, with intervals not exceeding 4 seconds. Check that the selected resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate and keyframe interval agree with the encoder’s output and YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance: YouTube live encoder settings.

Lower the stream load if upload cannot sustain it
If repeated upload observations do not leave the recommended headroom above the total stream bitrate, reduce the encoder bitrate or choose a lower resolution or frame rate. Then repeat a representative test using the revised settings. A brief peak result is not enough to establish that upload remains stable through a continuous 24/7 session.
Test upload stability, not just headline speed
Run upload-focused tests when the buffering occurs and record each result with its time. Repeat the observations across the periods when the stream tends to degrade. Compare the pattern with the configured bitrate and the Live Control Room error timestamps. Do not infer a packet-loss percentage or jitter level from buffering alone: the available YouTube guidance does not specify a packet-loss test or a jitter threshold for this diagnosis.

A single speed test measures a moment, while a long-running stream depends on the connection continuing to carry its outbound data. YouTube notes that the bandwidth available to one stream can be affected by shared network use. If other devices are uploading or the connection is busy, repeat the check when those demands differ and record the circumstances rather than treating one result as conclusive.
Compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet
If practical, connect the streaming computer directly to the router or ONT by Ethernet and compare the stream and repeated upload observations with Wi-Fi. Ethernet is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix for packet loss or jitter.

| Observation | What it suggests | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi is unstable; wired operation is consistently stable | The wireless portion of the local connection may be contributing. | Investigate Wi-Fi conditions and repeat the comparison at the times the stream usually degrades. |
| Wi-Fi and wired operation fail in a similar way | The issue may be elsewhere, such as the router/ONT or provider path; this does not prove which one. | Keep timestamped stream and upload observations and raise the issue with BSNL. |
If you need a cable to make the comparison, a suitable Ethernet cable is an optional diagnostic aid. Buying one does not establish or guarantee a fix for packet loss.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Give BSNL useful evidence if the fault persists
If the stream remains unstable during a wired test, contact BSNL with observations that let support relate the symptom to a particular time and setup. BSNL lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fiber/landline support and provides a technical complaint form with “Bharat Fiber Voice and Broadband” as a service type: BSNL support.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo keeps uploaded video looping from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. The process is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free day.
