For a dependable around-the-clock schedule, use planned sessions shorter than 12 hours, keep a separate local recording, monitor the feed, and clear the rights to every episode and embedded element. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Before you start: check channel eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its current Help page also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check your channel in YouTube Studio and resolve any restriction before scheduling. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
Set up an encoder stream
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. In Live Control Room, use the Stream workflow to create a stream, or Manage to schedule one. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how to connect an encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and key. Paste them into your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, on-screen graphics, or the programme feed.
- Connect the episode playback source. Set up a playlist or other playback workflow that can repeat the archive and recover after an interruption. YouTube documents the encoder connection, but does not prescribe a particular playlist automation tool or 24/7 loop architecture; choose and test a setup that suits your operating system and equipment.
- Check the preview before broadcasting. Start the encoder, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, and confirm the picture and audio are correct. Then start the broadcast in YouTube. Test the complete workflow before making it public.
- Record a separate copy. Keep a local recording and verify that the file is growing. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video and checking the integrity of local archive files; its live-streaming tips cover these checks.
Plan sessions around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” It also warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” This is not a guarantee that every stream under 12 hours will archive successfully, so retain the original episode files or another local recording. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.
Do not treat one broadcast running indefinitely as a safe archive plan. Divide the schedule into sessions comfortably shorter than 12 hours, assign someone to handle planned endings and restarts, and check the resulting replays in YouTube Studio’s Live tab. That creates restart points and lets you catch a missing or incomplete replay. YouTube does not establish a platform guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 uptime or prescribe a specific restart interval.

Clear rights for every episode and element
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including other broadcasts. A match may cause a placeholder to replace the stream; if the issue is not resolved, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A Content ID claim on an archived live stream may also arrive after the stream ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
For licensed material, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist when required. A licence alone may not prevent interruption, including where territory restrictions apply and the channel has not been allowlisted.

Before rebroadcasting an episode, check rights for the recording itself, guest and contributor releases where applicable, intro and outro music, embedded clips, sound effects, artwork, and third-party video. An episode’s earlier availability in an archive does not itself establish permission to rebroadcast it live or keep an archived replay. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms require the provider to hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including relevant music rights, and to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the live-stream territory.
Monitor the stream and prepare for interruptions
Test the entire playback-to-YouTube path before launch. During operation, check the Live Control Room and the public watch page for picture, sound, and accessibility, including on a mobile device. YouTube recommends continuously monitoring audio and video quality and confirming that local recordings remain intact and continue to grow.

For an India-based setup, test the actual upload connection and power continuity at the location and times the stream will run. Decide who responds if playback, the encoder, the internet connection, or power fails, and rehearse the recovery procedure. YouTube’s official guidance does not give an India-specific upload-speed threshold, UPS size, or hardware specification, so choose equipment based on your actual stream and conditions rather than relying on a universal figure. Estimate recording storage from your chosen bitrate, format, and retention period.
Keep the archive useful after each session
After checking that a replay is available and complete, organize finished episodes and highlight clips into playlists so listeners can find them after the live session. YouTube’s archive guidance explains automatic archiving, while its playlist instructions cover organizing videos.

YouTube’s Aug. 12, 2026 explanation of qualified YouTube Partner Program watch hours says that public long-form videos, including podcasts, and archived livestreams can contribute; hours from live streams that are not archived do not qualify.
