But OBS running continuously does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast: YouTube may interrupt a stream over a music-rights match, and a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be archived.
Before you set up OBS
Check the channel and music requirements first; they can prevent a stream from starting or staying live even when OBS is configured correctly.
Confirm that YouTube Live is available
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube supports streaming with an encoder such as OBS. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Enable live streaming ahead of your planned broadcast, rather than waiting until the moment you intend to go live.
- Choose a suitable title, visibility, and audience setting in YouTube Studio. The available guidance does not establish any special YouTube setting for Telugu bhajans.
Clear the music and recording rights
A devotional or traditional subject does not, by itself, mean a particular performance or recording is free to rebroadcast. Confirm that you have permission for both the underlying musical work and the specific recording or arrangement, including the intended territory, livestream, and any archive or video-on-demand use.
YouTube scans live video and audio for third-party matches. A match can replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. If you have a license, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone does not guarantee uninterrupted playback. YouTube for Artists also advises creators using copyright-protected music to coordinate with their label or distributor. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance and YouTube for Artists. Prepare the OBS scene and audio
For a playlist of prepared bhajans, use audio files you are authorized to stream and add an appropriate still image, artwork, or other authorized visual. A live performer can instead use a microphone or audio interface as an audio source; these are optional, not platform requirements. A camera or capture card is only needed if you are adding a live camera or separate video source.
- In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast.
- Add your chosen visual source, such as authorized devotional artwork.
- Add the prepared audio source or, for live singing or instruments, the appropriate microphone or interface.
- Check that the audio is audible and that the visual appears as intended in the OBS preview. Avoid displaying private information, including your YouTube stream key.
If you plan to play through a playlist, check that the files progress as intended before relying on the scene for a long session. OBS and YouTube settings do not resolve music-rights issues.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Use the title, visibility, and audience settings appropriate for your channel.
- In OBS, open its stream settings and select YouTube or YouTube RTMPS integration if available. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key from the Live Control Room into OBS.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the Live Control Room preview, then check picture, sound, and stream health.
- For a scheduled workflow, use the Live Control Room’s Go live control to start the YouTube event after OBS has connected and the preview looks right.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Its encoder setup guidance covers the stream URL and key workflow: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Choose a stable resolution and bitrate
Use the settings below as YouTube’s H.264 encoder examples, not as a guarantee of viewer quality or a stable broadcast. Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain continuously, and test before the planned stream.

YouTube recommends 20% spare upload capacity beyond the stream bitrate. For example, a 5 Mbps stream needs at least 6 Mbps of sustained available upload bandwidth to preserve that headroom; a 14 Mbps stream needs at least 16.8 Mbps. Other household or office traffic can reduce the bandwidth available to OBS, so a speed test under typical network conditions is more useful than relying on a best-case connection result. - Set rate control to CBR (constant bitrate).
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Use AAC or MP3 audio encoding.
- YouTube lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 as supported video codecs. Its bitrate examples above are specifically for H.264.
- Prefer RTMPS when available.
A 720p image may be sufficient for a static devotional visual and demands less bandwidth than the cited 1080p setting. Choose 1080p if the sharper image matters and your upload connection can sustain the recommended rate with headroom. YouTube’s encoder settings can change, so check its current guidance before a production change.

Plan what “24/7” means for archives and continuity
A continuous OBS session is not the same as a guaranteed continuous YouTube broadcast. YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours; streams that run longer may not be captured at all. If keeping a complete archive matters, plan sessions shorter than 12 hours and/or make a local recording. YouTube does not establish a recommended restart schedule here, so choose a cadence that fits your archive and operational needs rather than assuming one uninterrupted 24-hour session will be saved. Before going live, test the full chain: audio plays, the visual is correct, the Live Control Room receives the stream, and your internet connection remains stable. Monitor OBS and YouTube stream health during the broadcast. The available guidance does not establish an OBS configuration that guarantees automatic recovery or uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

Troubleshooting common problems
