To run prerecorded Sikh kirtan on YouTube around the clock, send a looping playlist to YouTube Live through an encoder such as OBS, or use a cloud playout service. With a local encoder, the computer, media files, power and internet connection must stay available. Before going live, confirm your channel is eligible and clear streaming rights for every recording and musical work in your program.
Choose how the stream will run

Both approaches require the same rights clearance and careful handling of the YouTube stream key. A cloud service changes where playback runs; it does not grant permission to broadcast the music or recordings.
Confirm YouTube channel eligibility
YouTube’s current getting-started requirements say the channel must be verified, must not have had a livestream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the livestreamer must be at least 16 years old. Check eligibility before preparing a launch, since a restriction can prevent the planned broadcast from going live.
In YouTube Live Control Room, choose encoder streaming and create the broadcast. YouTube’s stream key tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Treat the key like a password: keep it out of public playlists, documents and messages, and only enter it in the encoder or service that will send your stream.

Clear rights for every kirtan recording
Do not assume that a recording found online, a religious purpose, possession of an audio file, or permission to perform in person grants permission to livestream it. YouTube’s livestream terms make the streamer responsible for obtaining the rights necessary to exploit the live content worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights.
Make a rights inventory
For each item in the playlist, record the title, performer, recording owner and relevant underlying composition or lyrics. Confirm that the permission covers online live streaming in the territories where viewers may access the stream. Check separately whether it covers an archived replay and monetization, if either is planned. Get the relevant permissions or licenses in writing and keep copies available to the person monitoring the channel.
The repertoire, rights holders and intended territories for a particular Sikh kirtan stream determine which permissions are needed; those details cannot be established from the type of music alone. Ask the relevant rights holders or a qualified adviser about the licenses applicable to your actual program.

Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party material. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder image, an interruption or termination. Even if you have licensed the material, a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube says a live stream may still be interrupted if the channel has not been allowlisted. Confirm the process with each relevant owner before the broadcast.

OBS is one option for encoding a prerecorded program and sending it to YouTube. YouTube confirms encoder-based streaming, but it does not prescribe the OBS source-loop controls or one universal set of encoder values for every recording and connection. OBS controls can also vary by version. Use the current OBS instructions for your installed version and the encoder guidance shown in YouTube Live Control Room rather than relying on guessed menu labels or fixed settings.
- Prepare the media. Put the cleared recordings in a stable location on the computer that will run OBS. Arrange the intended order and decide whether the program should repeat as a single recording or a playlist.
- Add a playback source. In OBS, add the appropriate media or playlist source and enable its repeat or loop behavior using the controls available in your version. Test an entire transition, including the end of the final item back to the beginning. The loop must continue without an operator restarting playback.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Create an encoder broadcast in Live Control Room and enter its stream key in OBS’s streaming configuration. Do not publish or share the key. Confirm that OBS is sending to the intended channel and broadcast.
- Choose output settings deliberately. Set the output resolution and frame rate to match the source and your available upload capacity. Set the video bitrate and keyframe interval according to the current YouTube encoder recommendations and the capabilities of the connection. No single bitrate, resolution or keyframe value is established for this particular program or internet connection; use YouTube’s current live guidance instead of treating an arbitrary number as universal.
- Preview before announcing the stream. Check the image, audio level and synchronization, then watch a full transition between playlist items. Confirm that YouTube receives the expected feed and reports healthy stream status before relying on it unattended.
- Keep the local system running. Prevent sleep or shutdown, ensure the media drive remains connected, and use a reliable power and internet connection. Arrange for someone to notice a stopped encoder or YouTube warning and know how to investigate and resume the broadcast.
Test, monitor and decide whether to archive
Before calling the stream continuous, test the whole path: playback, audio and picture, playlist transitions, encoder reconnection behavior, and the stream health shown by YouTube. Decide who will monitor interruptions and how that person can access the channel and rights records. A 24/7 plan still needs human oversight when a platform warning or a local equipment failure requires action.

If YouTube interrupts a broadcast, check YouTube Studio for the warning or strike and address that specific issue before trying to resume. Do not simply restart the same material without understanding the notice; the cause may involve rights or channel eligibility rather than an encoder fault.
Choose separately whether YouTube should archive the live stream. YouTube says Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the stream is complete if the creator chooses to archive it. Check the archive setting against the permissions you obtained, because live-stream permission and permission to retain a replay are not necessarily the same grant.

Copyright permission and YouTube Partner Program eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s reused-content policy applies at the channel level and is distinct from copyright enforcement. Repetitive or minimally varied programming can create monetization problems even where material is licensed; permission alone does not establish that a channel will qualify for monetization.

Consider what original contribution and meaningful viewer value the channel provides, and assess the complete channel against YouTube’s current monetization rules. No general conclusion can establish the eligibility of a particular Sikh kirtan channel.
