Before you stream, confirm your channel is eligible and that you have permission to broadcast every song, recording, image, and video you use.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel verified for live streaming, with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio; YouTube lists verification and eligibility requirements on its live-streaming setup page.
- A computer that can run OBS continuously, a dependable internet connection, and the devotional media you intend to play.
- Permission for the live broadcast and any replay or archive use of each recording, song, image, and video.
YouTube treats a broadcast as a watchable event and a stream as the encoder feed that supplies it. Its Live Streaming API documentation describes a 24/7 broadcast and explains how a separate concurrent broadcast can be created from the same feed: Understanding broadcasts and streams.
Set up the YouTube broadcast and OBS

Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio
Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or configure the broadcast with a clear title and description, choose its visibility, and set the stream options for your planned channel. YouTube’s Full Live Production Guide describes configuring broadcast details and the stream key before connecting an encoder.

Connect OBS using the matching stream settings
In OBS, configure the stream destination and key to match the YouTube broadcast. Treat the stream key like a password: it authorizes an encoder feed to your channel, so do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to stream there. If the key is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.

Send the feed and verify the preview
Start streaming from OBS. In the Live Control Room, wait for YouTube to receive the encoder feed and show its preview and stream-health information. Confirm the correct Tamil devotional video and audio are coming through before selecting Go Live in the control room. An encoder preview is not the same as the broadcast being live.

Run a private or unlisted check
Before making the channel public, test the layout, audio level, Tamil text and diacritics, and transitions between playlist items. Check that the beginning and end of each clip do not leave an unintended blank screen or abrupt sound. These checks help catch setup problems, but they do not guarantee uninterrupted streaming.

Keep the channel running around the clock
For a local OBS setup, the computer, OBS, media sources, and internet connection all need to remain available. A power cut, computer restart, software failure, or internet outage can stop the feed. Write down who will notice an interruption and how they will restart OBS and reconnect it to the broadcast; a plan for recovery matters as much as the initial setup.
A UPS may keep the streaming computer powered through a brief power interruption, but it does not protect the internet connection or guarantee that the broadcast will remain live. Decide how you will monitor the Live Control Room and respond if YouTube stops receiving the feed.

Clear rights for Tamil devotional recordings and visuals
A devotional subject does not automatically make a particular recording or piece of artwork free to rebroadcast. YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party matches and may be interrupted or replaced with a placeholder. It also warns that licensed third-party material can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- Confirm that permission covers live streaming, not just personal listening or offline use.
- Check whether permission also covers replay, recording, or an archived version of the stream.
- Keep records of permissions for each song, recording, image, and video.
- Ask the relevant rights owner about allowlisting your channel through Content ID where applicable.
Choose whether to keep stream archives
The Google production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends recording streams longer than 12 hours for manual upload. The guide is undated, and this should not be treated as a guarantee for every account or current Studio configuration. Check the archive status in YouTube Studio and make a separate recording if you need to preserve a longer broadcast.
