Best HandBrake Settings for a 24/7 YouTube Playlist Stream in India

HandBrake prepares playlist files; your live encoder controls the YouTube feed. Here are the settings, testing steps, archive limits, and rights checks for a 24/7 stream.

Use HandBrake to prepare the prerecorded videos—not to send the live stream. For a straightforward, compatible starting point, choose a HandBrake Web > Creator preset that matches each source’s resolution and frame rate. It creates an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC stereo audio. Separately, set the live encoder to YouTube’s current requirements: use CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and the bitrate for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube currently recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30 and 8 Mbps at 720p30.

What HandBrake controls—and what it does not

HandBrake encodes files on your computer. It does not keep a YouTube live stream running or control the live encoder’s bitrate and keyframe interval. Those transmission settings belong in the software or service that sends your playlist to YouTube.

For a playlist of prerecorded documentaries, use HandBrake to make compatible source files, then configure the live encoder independently. YouTube transcodes incoming live video for viewers, but your encoder still needs a reliable upload connection. See HandBrake’s official presets documentation and YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance.

HandBrake settings for playlist files

Start with Web > Creator

  1. Open a source video in HandBrake.
  2. Choose a Web > Creator preset at the resolution appropriate to the source and your intended output.
  3. Keep the source’s frame rate where possible; do not upscale a lower-resolution video simply to select a larger output size.
  4. Use the preset’s MP4 container, H.264 video, and AAC stereo audio as a broadly compatible starting point.
  5. Encode a short representative section and inspect fine detail, motion, and audio before processing the full playlist.

HandBrake describes its Creator presets as intended for video-hosting uploads and designed to reduce quality loss during platform re-encoding. They are not live-transmission presets. The resulting file is only as useful as its source: a larger resolution cannot restore detail that was not recorded.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Do not assume one RF value fits every video

HandBrake’s encoder presets balance encoding speed, output quality, and file size. Changing the preset can mean you need to adjust its quality or bitrate control. There is no single RF number established as best for every documentary, source format, or level of motion. Test a representative clip at the settings you plan to use; compare image detail and movement, and listen for audio problems before batch-encoding the rest.

Configure the live encoder separately

In the program or service that sends the playlist to YouTube, choose settings that match the files and your upload capacity. YouTube’s guidance is for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion; check its current table when configuring a stream because platform specifications can change.

(Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
  • 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
  • Video codec: YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion. H.264 is a practical compatibility-first choice when the rest of your playback and encoding chain supports it.
  • Rate control: Use constant bitrate (CBR).
  • Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe frequency; do not exceed four seconds.
  • Bitrate: Follow YouTube’s current recommendation for the selected codec, resolution, and frame rate. Its current H.264 recommendations include 14 Mbps at 1080p30 and 8 Mbps at 720p30.
  • Audio: YouTube’s advanced guidance lists AAC or MP3, stereo at 44.1 kHz, and 128 kbps stereo audio.
  • SDR color: YouTube lists Rec. 709 and 8-bit for SDR.

The 14 Mbps and 8 Mbps figures are YouTube platform recommendations for those specific H.264 formats, not universal targets for every codec or frame rate. Consult the full YouTube bitrate and resolution table for your actual output format.

Set up and test the YouTube stream

  1. Make sure live streaming is enabled for the channel. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
  2. In YouTube Studio, create or select a live stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key.
  3. Enter the URL and key in the live encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
  4. Run a test using video movement and audio representative of the documentary playlist. Check the live preview and stream-health messages before relying on the setup.
  5. Check your actual upload connection and its stability. YouTube recommends choosing a quality reliable for the available connection and running an upload-speed test; there is no India-specific bitrate table or national bandwidth target established by the cited guidance.

For continuity through local power interruptions, a UPS for the computer and router is an optional practical safeguard, not a YouTube requirement. It cannot compensate for an unstable internet connection or encoder failure.

Plan session length and archive expectations

YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. If dependable archives matter, divide a continuous operation into sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a local recording. YouTube also warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for long live streams beyond 12 hours, which can affect viewers trying to rewind.

These are distinct concerns: keeping a playlist live continuously does not guarantee that one complete archive will be available afterward. Review YouTube’s archive guidance and plan session breaks around the channel’s recording and viewer-rewind needs.

Clear rights before looping documentaries

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if the matching material remains. Having a license may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID.

Before scheduling a documentary or its soundtrack for continuous playback, confirm that you hold the necessary rights for the territories where the content will be available and that the relevant rights holder has handled any required Content ID allowlisting. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility for worldwide exploitation rights and applicable territorial compliance on the content provider. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and applicable livestream terms.

Keep the playlist running: local setup or cloud

HandBrake prepares the files; a separate playback-and-encoding setup must play them continuously and send the live feed. A local computer gives you direct control, but it depends on that computer, its power, and its internet connection staying available. Test the full playback and transmission chain rather than treating a successful HandBrake encode as proof the live stream is ready.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. The workflow is three steps: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.

  • Each slot streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers: one flat price per slot for any quality.
  • Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team.
  • The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Plans are available for a day, a week, a month, six months, or a year; cancel any time. UPI and cards are accepted in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. Contact support for five or more slots.

Monthly: $9.99 per month. For the full plan details, visit StreamNeo pricing. To start the free day, sign up for StreamNeo.
