Best Low-Cost Mini PC for a Nonstop Pre-Recorded YouTube Live Stream

The Beelink Mini S12 N100 may suit a low-cost local setup, but its specs do not prove nonstop reliability. Learn what to test, how to configure YouTube, and when a cloud workflow may fit better.

For a budget local setup, the Beelink Mini S12 with an Intel N100, 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB SSD is a plausible starting point—not a proven 24/7 streaming machine. Beelink’s product page displayed $189 for that configuration but marked it sold out when checked in 2026. Confirm the exact configuration and current availability, then test it with your video, encoder and intended stream duration before relying on it unattended. If you want to avoid keeping hardware running at home, StreamNeo is the cloud option to consider first: it loops uploaded videos on YouTube, supports the video as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day.

Is the Beelink Mini S12 a good low-cost choice?

It is a candidate for running a software encoder, not a verified nonstop-streaming recommendation. Beelink lists the Mini S12 configuration with an Intel N100 processor, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, Intel UHD Graphics, gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 6 and dual HDMI. The product page displayed $189 and showed the configuration as sold out when accessed in 2026. Availability and price can change; check the live listing and confirm that the RAM and storage match before buying. Beelink Mini S12 product page.

The listing does not establish sustained encoding performance, power use under your workload, expected service life or reliability for continuous operation. General specifications alone cannot establish that a particular mini PC will stay live around the clock. Treat the N100 system as a low-cost starting point and validate it with the intended video and encoder for the duration you need.

What are the options for keeping prerecorded video live?

There are two distinct approaches: run an encoder on a local mini PC, or use dedicated hardware designed to handle the stream. For creators who want a cloud service rather than equipment at home, see the StreamNeo option below.

Local mini PC and software encoder Runs your chosen encoder and sends the stream to YouTube; the Beelink Mini S12 N100 is one possible computer. Beelink displayed $189 for the 16 GB/500 GB configuration, marked sold out when accessed in 2026. No comparative reliability or sustained-encoding measurements are established. Configuration, power, network, monitoring, and testing for the intended broadcast length.
AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream YouTube’s verified-encoder directory describes PlayToStream as a way to schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. Price and suitability for a strict low-budget target are not stated in YouTube’s listing. Evaluate its cost, setup and fit for your schedule and workflow. YouTube’s encoder directory and setup guidance.

Compare the actual purchase price, whether scheduling prerecorded content is built into the workflow, how much local control you need, and how you will detect and recover from interruptions. Neither the cited product specifications nor YouTube’s encoder guidance provide a comparative reliability figure for these options.

How to set up a local mini PC stream

The steps below describe the YouTube encoder workflow. Exact controls for selecting a prerecorded file, looping it, and reconnecting depend on the encoder software you choose; YouTube’s cited guidance does not prescribe a particular application or give software-specific menus.

  1. Check YouTube Live access and create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, set up the live stream and note its stream URL and stream key. YouTube describes the key as the encoder’s password and address: handle it like a credential, do not publish it, and replace it if exposed. See Manage live stream settings.
  2. Load the prerecorded video in your encoder. Configure the encoder to send that media as a live video source. If you need the file to repeat, confirm the encoder’s loop behavior and test the end-to-start transition before going live; loop controls vary by software.
  3. Enter the stream destination and key. Use the stream URL and key from YouTube in the encoder. YouTube permits reuse through custom stream keys and provides auto-start and auto-stop settings, which you can choose for your workflow. Keep the key private. YouTube stream settings.
  4. Choose a supported transport and encoding format. YouTube recommends RTMPS, its secure version of RTMP. Its current encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 and AV1 video, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings guidance for bitrate recommendations matching your resolution, frame rate and codec.
  5. Set bitrate to match your output. For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps. The connection needs adequate upload capacity beyond the selected video bitrate, and YouTube advises testing both upload bitrate and stream quality. A wired Ethernet connection is a sensible option if available; the Beelink listing specifies gigabit LAN, but the cited sources do not quantify a reliability advantage over Wi-Fi.
  6. Test before the intended broadcast. Send a test stream and check that video and audio arrive as expected, the file loops correctly, and the computer and network remain stable. YouTube’s instruction is: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Encoder settings and testing.
  7. Monitor the live output and plan for recovery. YouTube advises continuously monitoring streams for audio and video quality and describes testing encoder failover. For an unattended setup, arrange a way to notice an outage and verify that the stream has recovered; the mini PC alone does not guarantee continuity. YouTube live streaming tips.

Plan for the 12-hour archive limit

YouTube’s encoder help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours may not be archived automatically, so check YouTube’s current behavior and make a separate recording or archive plan if you need the complete program. Do not assume a nonstop stream will produce a complete replay. YouTube encoder help.

Common problems and what to check

  • YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the stream URL and stream key are entered correctly and belong to the intended broadcast. Treat the key as a password; replace it if it may have been exposed.
  • The stream buffers or loses quality: Test upload capacity and stream quality, then compare the available upload capacity with the encoder’s chosen bitrate. Reduce output bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the setting. YouTube’s recommended 10 Mbps applies specifically to H.264 at 1080p30, not every codec or resolution.
  • The stream stops while nobody is present: Check power, network availability and encoder status, and make a plan to detect an outage. Test failover and recovery rather than assuming the computer or YouTube will restore the broadcast in every case.
  • The replay is incomplete or missing: Check the broadcast duration. YouTube’s cited guidance only promises automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours; preserve a separate recording if a longer archive matters.
  • The PC seems fine in a short test but fails during a long run: Extend testing with the exact media, settings and duration you intend to use. The Mini S12 listing does not establish 24/7 encoding capability or tested uptime.
