Budget for a 24/7 YouTube playlist by separating the cost of keeping your video files from the cost of sending a live stream to YouTube. A managed playlist service may bundle storage, looping, and recovery into one plan; a do-it-yourself setup needs separate estimates for storage, requests, delivery, compute, monitoring, and recovery. A storage price per GB-month alone is not the total cost of broadcasting.
Start with the workflow, not a storage quote
“Cloud storage” can mean different things in a 24/7 broadcast. You might upload videos to a managed broadcaster that stores and loops them to YouTube, or store files in an object store and operate a separate encoder, server, and delivery system. Those approaches have different billing dimensions and do not perform identical jobs.
- Managed YouTube playlist broadcaster: typically budget by stream or slot, plan length, included storage, quality limits, playlist features, and any runtime or recovery restrictions.
- Self-managed stack: account separately for retained files, storage operations and requests, data delivery or egress, CDN, encoder/server compute, monitoring, and recovery.
- Managed video delivery: may charge by video minutes stored and delivered rather than by raw storage capacity. Check that it can actually support your YouTube workflow before comparing its price.
Google Cloud’s media workload guidance recommends using a CDN for content-serving and livestream workloads. Caching can improve bandwidth efficiency and performance, while request coalescing can reduce origin reads. These benefits depend on how the chosen system is configured; they do not remove the need to estimate storage, delivery, and compute.
Measure the library and the broadcast separately
Estimate retained source storage
Add up the actual sizes of the files you plan to keep, then include expected additions per month and any duplicate versions you retain. “Large playlist” is not a capacity estimate: duration, codec, bitrate, and the number of versions all affect file size. Record whether you need an archive beyond the files currently in rotation.

For a self-managed store, translate the library total into the billing period and retention policy you expect to use. Storage charges can change as the library grows or as old versions remain stored. Confirm what the provider counts as stored data and whether deleting or replacing files changes the bill immediately or after a retention period.
Estimate the live stream independently
The library’s total file size does not determine the bitrate of the outgoing YouTube stream. Choose the intended resolution, frame rate, and codec, then use YouTube’s recommendation for that combination to plan the encoder and connection. YouTube’s live encoder settings list recommended H.264 input at 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps; the table’s AV1/H.265 column gives 12 Mbps for the same resolution and frame rate. Those are codec-specific recommendations, not a universal bitrate for every stream.
YouTube transcodes live input into multiple output formats for viewers, so the ingest bitrate is not a direct estimate of viewer delivery costs in a self-managed system. YouTube also recommends testing a stream and monitoring its health. See its encoder settings and stream health guidance.

Build a do-it-yourself monthly budget
For a self-managed stack, estimate these costs as separate line items before adding them together:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Storage: retained source files multiplied by the time they remain stored, including expected additions, duplicate encodes, or archives.
- Requests and operations: estimate reads, writes, list operations, and any other billed requests generated by the encoder, playlist manager, or viewers of your own delivery system.
- Delivery and egress: estimate data sent to downstream systems or viewers. Identify the destination and whether a CDN serves it from cache or repeatedly fetches it from the origin.
- CDN: include delivery charges and any applicable request charges. Consider whether playlist media segments are cacheable in your specific configuration; caching and request coalescing can reduce origin traffic, but the result depends on the setup.
- Encoder or server compute: include the continuously running sender, any transcoding you perform, and the resources needed for the chosen resolution, frame rate, and codec.
- Operations and resilience: account for monitoring, restart procedures, alerting, and recovery if the sender, origin, or connection fails.
Get a region- and usage-specific quote from the cloud provider before relying on a per-GB figure. Google Cloud’s reviewed media guidance does not establish a current object-storage rate for your particular region and usage profile, and a useful estimate also depends on request volume, delivery architecture, and egress destination.
Compare managed options on equal terms
Before comparing a managed plan with a DIY estimate, align the number of simultaneous streams, desired quality, run length, storage needs, and archive requirements. Then check what the service includes and what happens when a limit is reached. Vendor pages describe their own terms and features; they are not independent performance tests, and availability, taxes, currency, and plan terms can vary by location and change over time.

| Approach | What the budget is based on | Key checks |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo managed YouTube playlist streaming | One slot per stream; its plan includes 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots. The product page lists a global monthly plan at $9.99 per month; the vendor says prices were checked 19 September 2026. | Confirm current local price and terms. StreamNeo advertises 24/7 looping, playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and streaming at the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps. |
| OneStream Live managed 24/7 workflow | Requires its Enterprise plan for 24/7 streaming; its public support article does not establish a comparable price here. | OneStream Live documents a maximum duration of 30 days for this workflow. Its support article is dated 3 September 2026; verify current terms and restart behavior. |
| Self-managed object storage plus sender/CDN | Separate estimates for storage, requests, delivery or egress, CDN, compute, monitoring, and recovery. | Rates depend on region and usage. Request a quote for the actual architecture rather than treating a storage-only unit rate as the broadcast total. |
| Cloudflare Stream managed video delivery | Its pricing page bills video minutes stored and delivered, includes bandwidth in delivery without additional egress fees, and lists delivery at $1 per 1,000 minutes. | The page was last updated 8 September 2026. This is a video-delivery model, not automatically a YouTube playlist broadcaster; confirm capability and total use-case fit. |
For a StreamNeo slot, the vendor’s displayed global monthly price is $9.99 per month, and it includes 10 GB of storage. The product page says the comparison prices were checked 19 September 2026. Check the live plan page for current local terms before purchase. For OneStream Live, the documented 30-day maximum means a continuous run may require a restart or a different workflow; confirm the practical restart process directly with the provider.
Cloudflare Stream’s delivery rate is a useful reference for a minute-based managed video service, but it should not be compared as if it were simply a storage plan or a direct replacement for a broadcaster that sends a playlist to YouTube. Calculate the costs for the job each product actually performs.

Plan for archive limits and restarts
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you need a single uninterrupted recording of a longer broadcast, do not assume the full stream will be archived automatically; plan how you will preserve the source files or recordings and check the current YouTube live-stream archive guidance.

Service limits matter too. OneStream Live documents a 30-day maximum for its 24/7 workflow. Check the selected provider’s duration limits and restart behavior, as well as how any planned restart affects the playlist and archive.
Check rights and channel eligibility
Before looping documentaries, music, or other recordings, make sure you have the rights needed to stream them and understand YouTube’s copyright rules. A stream that runs technically can still be interrupted or subject to claims if its content is not cleared. Also consider whether repeatedly broadcasting the same material fits YouTube’s monetization policies on reused content; technical availability does not guarantee monetization eligibility. Review YouTube’s current copyright guidance and channel monetization policies.

- Inventory the library: total the actual file sizes, count versions, and estimate additions and retention each month.
- Choose the architecture: decide whether a managed broadcaster stores and loops the files or whether a separate store, sender, and CDN will do the work.
- Set output requirements: specify resolution, frame rate, and codec before estimating bitrate, encoder capacity, or connection needs.
- Price every cost category: for DIY, include storage, requests, delivery/egress, CDN, compute, monitoring, and recovery; for a managed plan, check slot count, included storage, quality limits, runtime, and overages.
- Model the intended run: compare totals over the time you expect to broadcast, including stream count, library growth, restarts, archive needs, and support.
- Verify checkout details: confirm billing currency, taxes, regional availability, plan limits, and any overage charges directly with the provider.
For cost comparisons, do not treat a vendor’s advertised plan price as an industry average. Named published studies specifically measuring the total cost of 24/7 YouTube playlist streaming are not established here; the available figures are platform recommendations and vendor-published prices or limits.
