Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf YouTube Live keeps buffering on ACT Fibernet, compare the same stream on another device or connection, then test playback near the router and over Ethernet if available. These checks help locate whether the problem follows the device, Wi-Fi, household network use, or connection—but none alone proves ACT has a routing fault. No ACT-specific route problem is confirmed here.
1. Find out what is affected
Run comparisons using the same live stream where possible. Change one thing at a time and note the time and result; changing several settings together makes the outcome harder to interpret.
- Another device on ACT: Try the stream on another supported device connected to the same home network. If only one device struggles, focus first on that device or its YouTube app.
- Another internet connection: Try the affected device on a different connection, such as mobile data, if practical. Check your data plan before streaming. If it works there but not on ACT, that narrows the comparison but does not identify the cause by itself.
- Another service or stream: Note whether other services and other devices work during the problem. This information can help support understand the scope; it is not a route diagnosis.
YouTube Help recommends comparing another internet connection and trying another supported device. It also notes that congestion and other factors can affect live playback: YouTube Help’s streaming and video troubleshooting.
2. Check YouTube playback and the device
- Lower playback quality temporarily. In the YouTube player, open the quality controls and choose a lower setting. If playback becomes more stable, record the quality that worked and the time of the test. This is a diagnostic comparison, not proof of a particular fault.
- Restart the app or browser. Close YouTube fully and reopen it. If the issue continues, restart the device.
- Check for updates. Install available updates for the YouTube app and device software, following the device maker’s instructions.
- For a TV, test close to the router. YouTube recommends checking the connection near the TV and adjusting playback quality manually. Where available, compare the TV’s usual location with a test near the router.
- Clear cache only if the device provides that option. Use the device maker’s steps; the menu and procedure vary by device.
YouTube Help gives 7 Mbps as the minimum recommended connection speed for HD streaming on TV. That is not a guarantee for every live broadcast, device, or network condition, and a speed result does not show whether a route is at fault. YouTube also cautions: “Network congestion and other factors may also cause live programming issues, which can delay the stream.” YouTube Help: Troubleshoot streaming & video issues.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Isolate the Wi-Fi connection
A fast broadband plan does not ensure strong Wi-Fi at the viewing device. ACT identifies router distance and placement, connected-device limits, and simultaneous high-bandwidth use as possible contributors to buffering and Wi-Fi instability.
- Compare playback at the usual viewing spot with a test nearer the router.
- For the near-router test, reduce obstructions where practical and avoid placing the device beside obvious sources of interference.
- Pause large downloads and other heavy household internet use for a short comparison. If possible, temporarily reduce the number of devices using the network.
- Keep the stream, device, and playback quality the same while comparing the usual household conditions with reduced competing traffic.
ACT’s guidance discusses buffering and Wi-Fi stability at its buffering troubleshooting article and its Wi-Fi stability guide. These are possible factors to check, not confirmation that any one of them is causing your live-stream problem.

4. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet
If your TV, computer, or other playback device has an Ethernet port, connect it directly to the router using a suitable cable you already have. Cat 5e or Cat 6 is suitable for this wired comparison, according to ACT. Test the same stream, device, quality, and approximate time window over Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
- Ethernet is stable while Wi-Fi buffers: The wireless segment becomes a stronger place to investigate. The result does not establish that the broadband service or an external route is fault-free in every condition.
- Both connections buffer: The test has not isolated Wi-Fi as the cause. Record the result for ACT support rather than concluding that the route is at fault.
- No Ethernet cable or port: Skip this step. Buying a cable is optional; it is not a required fix, and a wired test cannot repair or prove an ISP route problem.
ACT describes wired connections as consistent and identifies Cat 5e or Cat 6 for wired networking in its Wi-Fi stability guidance.

5. Review router settings without making risky changes
Before changing router settings, write down or photograph their current values so you can restore them. Check router firmware using the router maker’s instructions. ACT identifies firmware and DNS among areas that may be relevant to troubleshooting, but the available guidance does not establish that changing DNS will fix this YouTube Live symptom.
Do not treat disabling IPv6, changing DNS, or replacing the router as a proven ACT-specific fix. If considering an advanced configuration change, first check the router maker’s documentation and preserve the original settings. Avoid a factory reset unless you understand how to restore your connection configuration.

6. What the comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
| Comparison | What a difference may suggest | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Affected device versus another device on ACT | The device, app, or its local connection may be part of the problem if the other device plays smoothly. | It does not identify the precise device fault or rule out intermittent network issues. |
| ACT versus a different internet connection | The difference may help narrow whether the issue follows the connection or device. | It does not establish an ACT routing fault. |
| Usual Wi-Fi location versus near the router | A better result near the router points toward investigating the wireless link or conditions at the usual location. | It does not diagnose every source of Wi-Fi interference or congestion. |
| Wi-Fi versus Ethernet | Stable Ethernet with poor Wi-Fi makes the wireless segment a stronger suspect. | It does not prove the ISP route is good or bad. |
| Normal household use versus reduced competing traffic | A change may indicate that simultaneous network demand is relevant. | It does not identify which device or activity caused the difference. |
| Usual quality versus lower manual quality | More stable playback at a lower setting is useful diagnostic evidence about playback conditions. | It does not by itself show whether the limitation is Wi-Fi, device, congestion, or another factor. |
7. When to contact ACT
If the problem persists after the comparisons, submit a connectivity support ticket through the ACT website or app. ACT’s home Wi-Fi guide points customers to its support flow for persistent connectivity trouble. Include observations rather than a conclusion that the route is at fault:
- Your city or locality, and the date and time buffering occurred.
- The affected device, YouTube app or browser, and whether other devices or services worked.
- Whether playback changed near the router, at a lower quality, or with less household traffic.
- Whether the same device worked on another internet connection, if tested.
- Whether Ethernet playback differed from Wi-Fi, if you could test it.
No current ACT outage or ACT-specific YouTube route problem is established by these checks. The aim is to give support a clear account of the conditions and comparisons, so the issue can be investigated without prematurely replacing hardware or changing network settings.
